Drilling one of the toughest plays an infielder will face with the @fungoman machine: the high chopper with extreme topspin and a challenging second bounce.
Of the three glove actions, the one-handed press is the preferred technique here, allowing the fielder to secure the ball before it can eat him up with a nasty in-between hop.
Elite defenders prepare for the difficult plays before they happen in games.

“The Ozzie Drill.”
Back in 1998, I watched an ESPN interview with Ozzie Smith where he talked about one of his favorite drills — one he used to “improve, polish, and trust his glove instincts.”
In the drill, Ozzie got on his knees while a coach peppered him from short distance. The goal was to let the hands work freely to pick or press short hops and in-between hops. No thinking. Just react and trust. Because thinking is slow.
I stayed up at night trying to figure out how to adapt this drill for a full group of infielders. One night, I woke up out of a dead sleep with the answer — a way to make the drill simple, repeatable, and predictable for teaching purposes.
Once players mastered the foundation, we could expand the drill, make it unpredictable, and challenge instincts at a much higher level.

Summer intentions & actions say a lot about you. Missing workouts with no communication, being late & always making excuses eliminates a lot of players from any leadership role. Leaders show up & do hard things; they hold themselves & others accountable and they lead by example.
Whenever someone says winning isn't important.
I know I don't want to hear anything else they have to say about competitive athletics.
Competitive athletics only has two outcomes.
Winning or losing and winners hate losing more than they like winning.
In baseball you’re going to fail
So fearing failure only adds another level of stress and anxiety to what is already almost guaranteed in this game.
So play free, know everyone is going to fail and have fun.
How to struggle in travel baseball:
• Make excuses
• Blame coaches
• Blame umpires
• Blame teammates
• Avoid accountability
• Expect results without discipline
• Get defensive when corrected
Then say you want to be elite.
Elite players attack problems.
Average players protect their ego.
