Skill development: I am so excited for @laurenbetts12 this year. Best center in the country. She isn’t like most centers. Can switch & keep in front, defends w/out fouling, a good & willing passer, and she shoots 68% from the floor. Best is yet to come. #GrowthMindset
On June 17 around noon, Deputy Kurzinger was dispatched to a medical call at The Trails Recreation Center in Centennial. A 74-year-old man was unconscious, not breathing and had no pulse.
Four rec center employees jumped into action and began performing CPR on the victim. One employee connected an AED, another performed chest compressions, another kept track of the compressions and the fourth was providing ventilation.
Upon arrival, Deputy Kurzinger took over CPR due to the employee being fatigued. When @SouthMetroPIO arrived, Deputy Kurzinger continued to assist with life-saving efforts until paramedics had their equipment ready. By that time, the victim had a pulse and was transported to the hospital. Just before the victim got into the ambulance, he gave a head nod to the deputy that he could hear and understand him.
Deputy Kurzinger said without the help of those four employees stepping up immediately, knowing what to do and performing quality CPR, the man would not have survived.

Can we stop asking moms what their kids will be doing for camps this summer? Why does every waking moment now have to be filled with expensive activities and endless plans. Why can’t we just let them sleep in, play outside, read a book, dare I say watch some TV, and be bored?
How have youth sports changed in the last 20 years?? We have pushed the “competitive” narrative onto our kids at far too young of an age, before they can really handle it. We have sold our parents on the idea that “if your kid is not playing year round, or for our club team, they are going to get left behind.” We have allowed organizations to corporatize our children’s ability to just GO PLAY a sport. We have allowed them feed off of our egos as parents to buy into the player/state rankings over the actual development of a child. PARENTS, stop dreaming of where your kid is going to play in college or what round they are going to get drafted in. Start dreaming about their potential as human beings to grow up to be healthy, happy, and sturdy humans whose identity is built on being loved for who they are, not what they do.
Pulling up a lawn chair to watch your child’s rec practice is not really a thing.
Either drop your child off, or ask coach how you can help.
For youth, parents chillin on the sideline at practice is just a distraction.
About 15 years ago, many school districts, including mine, discontinued teaching ‘Shop class’ in middle schools and reduced trades education in high schools. Both moves were a BIG MISTAKE.
The belief that college education is suitable for everyone marked the beginning of several major education missteps.
@ericb207@KING1987__@irreverent@TroyRenck But his job isn't to coach ... he pays his assistant coaches to do that. He is the CEO and face of the program. His job is to promote CU football and bring in donor money. It is his job to hire and fire those that aren't doing their job . . . And that includes players.
