8 Realities of a High School Coach
1. It will consume you
2. There will be critics
3. You are not in it for the $
4. There is no overnight success
5. You need a supportive spouse
6. You will not make everyone happy
7. You can’t want it more than the kids
8. It is still WORTH it!
The legacy of a teacher transcends the lesson. Lessons are important… but the kids also remember things like joy, humor, energy, attitude, and relationships.
The teachers and coaches I remember the most from school were the ones I didn’t want to let down.
They invested in me - I knew they cared and wanted me to succeed. The relationship is what pushed me to work harder. We were in it together.
That’s enough football for today. Enough Twitter as well.
1. Don’t be a NegaVol. Still in good shape moving into the future.
2. You don’t feel nearly as bad as the players and coaches on the hill.
3. This IS the right coach and don’t think otherwise.
Good night, go Vols.
It's November in year two of the Josh Heupel era and Tennessee is 8-1 with wins over Alabama, Florida and LSU. Every single UT fan would've signed up for this. And most would've told you that this scenario was very unlikely to happen. Losing sucks, but keep it in perspective.
