@GameTimeCT The CIAC will have to consider how to accomodate all programs. The simple answer is to allow teams to extend spring practice untill June 30. This would accomodate smaller schools and allow for a universal start date. great time to try it out and see what happens!
A proposal is before the CIAC board of control to reinstate traditional spring football to prepare players for a potential post-COVID fall season #cthsfb

Without a spring season or any allocation of practice time, teams that did not participate in the privatized version will be at a decided disadvantage to those that did. Something out of the CIAC's control, but no less real.
While I understand that the Spring season must be protected in reality most lacrosse and baseball players have had ample oppourtunity to practice and play with their teamates. Not so for our guys.
My hope would be that the CIAC will immediately begin conversations around how to provide coaching oppourtunities that will prepare our returning players to effectively and safely participate in football in 2021.
I am saddened and ashamed to have to tell our players that they will have no oppourtunity to practice or play for this entire school year. To Seniors in every program I am truly sorry.
The CIAC has been an advocate for football since the begining of this saga. Now we who have decided to avoid the privatization of football sit patiently by and wait for a a signal that the spring is a legitamate option. October is here I hope an answer comes soon!!
Fellow coaches have any of you heard or read a word from our CHSCA representatives. Do you agree that it might have been appropriate for them to take a stand in support of our efforts through this debacle? Biden is not the only Joe that needs to come out of the basement!!
It is very hard to see the previews for all of the other fall sports and know that football has been relugated to a 7v7 league where seniors who have worked for years to play on their home fields, flip tires or drive sleds, for points in a touch football league. Something cruel.
The FCIAC and other leagues will provide all the data we need to justify playing in the Spring after they play 60 or 80 games this Fall with no problem. To those who can't, stay the course, support your players, compete, and keep the pressure on for a "commitment" to spring.
The CIAC has used the even playing field defense at nauseum for as long as I have been listening to them. At least give us some guarantee that all players will be given the same oppourtunity to play this spring if the data allows.
No team should ever be criticized for trying to create oppourtunities for their players, however; how will the CIAC justify allowing teams with 5-8 extra games under their belts to compete against teams who through no fault of their own were unable to do it?
If the CIAC would support the concept of a spring wedge season for football, many programs would be satisfied to continue their work , play 7v7, lift and do lineman challenges while we prepare for Spring. With the abscence of that committment we now must seek other options.
Privitization is something we have fought against for the last 20 years and now we find ourselves fighting for it to salvage something for the seniors in our programs.
If the answer is no than we need to rejoin the fight for a Spring season. There will be obstacles that logic and clear thinking can overcome. The one thing we must remember is that being greedy will not serve our purpose. Something will be better than nothing. 4-5 gms full spring
The board of control has met to decide their position on Fall football. I pray for the good of our players and families we hear something this afternoon. Enough is enough!! Play or Nay but now not one more minute of wondering.
#2 although I have been a proponent of Spring it comes with many challenges that I have just been made aware of so if it comes to that we will need to speak with one voice if we hope to have a chance
