John Wooden shares one of the greatest definitions of success ever spoken.
"The definition I coined for success is peace of mind attained only through self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you're capable."
Read that again.
Success isn't the trophy - it's peace of mind from what you do.
Then he addressed the comparison trap:
"We're not all equal as far as intelligence. We're not equal as far as size. We're not equal as far as appearance....But we're all absolutely equal in having the opportunity to make the most of what we have and not comparing or worrying about what others have."
The great equalizer is: The effort to become the best of which you're capable.
Nobody can out-work your personal standard.
Wooden coined that definition in 1934. Over 90 years later, it's still the standard.
It means living with a mindset of daily excellence.

50% of all murders in the United States happen in 2% of the counties
Our favorite Canadian living in the United States explores the statistic
Guess which counties and cities
Christopher Hitchens: ”In 1786, when the United States was barely a country, it was having its sailors taken as slaves by the Barbary states, the states of the Ottoman Empire and North Africa. Tripoli, shores of Tripoli. Ships stopped, its crews carried off into slavery. We estimate 1.5 million European and American slaves taken between 1750 and 1815.
Jefferson and Adams went to their ambassador in London and said, why do you do this to us? The United States has never had a quarrel with the Muslim world of any kind. We weren't in the crusades. We weren't at war with Spain. Why do you do this to our people and our ships? Why do you plunder and enslave our people? The ambassador said very plainly, Mr. Abdul Rahman said, because the Quran gives us permission to do so, because you are infidels, and that's our answer. Jefferson said, well, in that case, I will send a navy which will crush your state, which he did.
Islamic fundamentalism is not created by American democracy. It's a lie to say so. It's a masochistic lie, and it excuses those who are the real criminals, and blames us for the attacks made upon us.”

~Larry Legend all day long, look it up on YouTube
~ 1980s NBA was grown-man basketball, not this participation-trophy nonsense 💪🇺🇸
~ Larry Legend walked up to opponents during warmups and said “You’re getting 40 tonight… and there’s nothing you can do about it.” Then dropped 40. These TikTok-era babies would cry to the league office for “emotional distress”
~ These modern NBA babies would last about 4 minutes in the 80s before crying to the ref. Hand-checking? Nah, that was just a friendly forearm to the chest from the Bad Boys. Larry Legend would’ve smoked ’em while eating a sandwich 🏀🏀🏀
~ Pat Riley dropped the ultimate truth bomb: “Game on the line? Give me Michael Jordan.”
“Life on the line? Nah… I’m riding with Larry Legend.”
