It’s so much easier to ask kids to play games…so it’s so much easier to get their parents to pay up.
It took parents some effort to get their kids to go to traditional “5 Star” style camps and focus on fundamentals. But hey, “just go play a bunch and get cool swag”? Easy money.
We’ve replaced meaningful competition with constant meaningless games. When everything is a “tournament,” nothing feels like it matters. Kids are playing 40–50 weekends a year, but where’s the space for real development, reflection & hunger to improve? More isn’t always better.

Tonight they won a national title after an undefeated romp through the Juco World Series.
A story worth watching.
