@coachinthebox We talk all the time about the importance of creating the right environment. It's why we've designed our facilities the way we have, with walls everywhere!
Did you know we have training facilities in many locations? TX, KS, MO, NE, and CT!
Episode 21 we went off on the closed system of ECNL and the like. Everyone hated the European Super League idea, but then falls at the feet of the ECNL….
National Champions. Let those words sink in. You can’t be a national champion if you don’t have an open competition. There might be League Champions like La Liga, Seria A, Bundesliga, EPL. But a national champion in the US does not exist right now.

Would you say that playing in a national playoff is a great developmental opportunity for players? Sounds like more kids getting that opportunity is better (for the whole) than less. Or are we just wanting to grant that opportunity to those that mature early/are well connected?
I have a hard time understanding why a National Playoff event has a third and fourth tier playoff within its infrastructure. The whole point of a playoff is to reward the teams that have excelled and finished at the the top of their division. $$$$$$$$$$$$
9 players in group A for 1v1s and 8 in group B. Group A would have 4 simultaneous games of 1v1 with the odd man out in goal and a volunteer from group B in the other goal. Meanwhile, group B would be gathering scores and organizing the next matchups based on what the matrix said.
It probably won’t come as a surprise that we have to we have to remind Andy that we can have the same conversation while recording that we have before every episode!🎙
Episode 18: Eliminating Prejudices in Youth Soccer will be dropping this week. 👀⚽️💯
Failure is the most important part of the process. We demand that our kids use fakes and moves, cheering them through their failures. It’s the only way they’ll develop the ability to use these skills under pressure.
If your players aren’t failing, you’re doing it wrong! ⚽️

@nlevett@TheS_Resource Mental strength must be worked on throughout all phases. However, he’s spot on on focusing on the technical side of the game early on. Through emphasizing technique and willingness to take players 1v1s you can improve mental strength. It also forces kids to work on defending
@davecoaching The rush to play 11v11 is a crime in youth soccer. At U13, the kids that hit puberty earlier have a tremendous advantage, however, it’s a disservice to them since they learn to rely on their athleticism solely. Playing small sided soccer for a few more years is the key!
