LTI - January Day 1 Acceleration Drill - Resisted Sprints. 6x5yds
Goal-
1. Establish forward lean needed for acceleration
2. Maintain ground contact behind the athlete
3. Establish a straight line from extension to forward foot position
4. Create faster leg/arm turnover.
Student athletes. Foods that do not fuel you:
Donuts, cookies, pop tarts, juice, soda, cereal, candy.
You might as well dump sugar down your throat and lay down.
You need Meat, veggies, fruits, eggs, nuts, whole grains, sweet potato, rice, oats.
Fuel, recovery, health.
@BrycePatterson But I don’t think it’s something you encourage either. If at the bottom of the movement and weights in the right part of the foot. No problem. But if it happens first and the BW shifts to the toes, not good for long term knee health. ??
Train all summer or, spend the summer at “ exposure” camps.
I think a lot of kids get “exposed” instead of “exposure”.

There’s A LOT OF BIG ROCKS that could be taken care of with HS athletes before mom a dad drop $2k on lessons a year.
-Learning how to do a real push-up could be one.
-Or how to hip hinge and actually involve an athletes glutes into sporting activities may be another.
@ZachDechant I was talking to a father the other day about all the band shoulder work needed to prep for throwing. Those 2 things don’t line up either. Fast explosive, dynamic movement is going to be prepped with 100s of Band Reps with a light band? Needed yes but overrated..
The high school S&C coach is the most important, underappreciated & underutilized role in our field.I admire & respect the work these professionals put in every day with all students not just athletes. If you care about the kids hire, support & invest in high school S&C coaches.
I still struggle w/ the fact that I NEVER see pick up Basketball, Baseball, Football games. EVER.
ALL this knowledge about playing multiple sports and I STILL see kids specializing by age 10.

PROPER PUSH-UPS matter! Pushing the chest as far away from the ground is one of the most important aspects of the push-up. We want the scaps TO MOVE around the ribcage. Serratus involvement is huge in pushups!!! #MovementOverMaxes
