@KevinASchofield@SteveBakerFRSA Why is it not good? Sounds like he wants to set the agenda for the coming months rather than let the likes of @ChrisMasonBBC and @BethRigby railroad him before he’s even started. We all saw this happen with Starmer.
@World_Currents In answer to your question it’s the latter. Re Trump why does he keep having these journalists in the room with him if he believes they are from the fake news media and now apparently corrupt as well?
@KemiBadenoch Whilst I might not agree with the vision and policies a politician has I do expect them, from whichever party, to act in a professional and respectful manner. Perhaps you could start by leading by example?
Tulip Siddiq made a point of order in the House of Commons after Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch attacked Bridget Phillipson, again,
"Kemi Badenoch called the Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson a spiteful class warrior"
"And previously she's compared Bridget Phillipson to a gestapo officer"
"Madame Deputy Speaker, I started out working in parliament as a teenager, and for 25 years of being involved in politics I have never seen the atmosphere here in parliament and outside quite so hostile and intimidatory, especially towards female elected representatives"
"Madame Deputy Speaker, words matters and inflammatory language contribute to this hostility towards politicians, especially women"
"Could I ask your advice whether the language that was used by the leader of the opposition today, towards the Secretary of State for Education, who is a woman who grew up in poverty, on a council estate, raised by a single mother, on free school meals, and worked her way up to Cabinet, is appropriate language to be used in the chamber"
"Not only does this language contribute to hostility, it also puts off women, from coming into this very important profession"
@j_l_marsden@KemiBadenoch I’ve worked with a variety of MPs and the vast majority have entered politics with the desire to improve society. I might not have agreed with their beliefs on how to do so, but respect their motives. Ed Davey was correct in what he said today
@j_l_marsden@KemiBadenoch It isn’t about a “personal agenda” it’s a political belief about equity in society. Perfectly acceptable to hold a different view of what is best for society but not to indulge in personal attacks to do so.
@j_l_marsden@KemiBadenoch “I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.”
Margaret Thatcher
@j_l_marsden@KemiBadenoch She’s certainly not taking the moral higher ground. She has a track record of the kind of behaviour we saw at PMQs today. Whataboutery doesn’t excuse it.
