No they are appalled because the police handcuffed a dying man writhing on the ground rather than believe he had been stabbed.
What a monstrous thing for any broadcaster to say.
@medicalmodelbri abuse does obviously have to be excluded in these symptoms but i wonder how it was raised, doesn’t sound like it was handled very well. Poor family.
@medicalmodelbri i’m prob overreacting because i don’t do paeds i am not trained for it, but that’s exactly why people spend a very long time doing a lot of training to safely see children. Glad she saw a consultant. It was prob paed vulvovagnitis but i am appalled at this case
@medicalmodelbri most trained clinicians are very happy to put hand up and say this is outside of my competence/scope and ask for help. What is it about PAs that seems to be lacking - leading to blindly ploughing on treating anything and everything no matter if appropriate or not?
@medicalmodelbri paeds are a whole other ball game, anyone actually trained knows you can’t just treat them like small adults. That poor child and mother.
@medicalmodelbri even if it was something minor like paed vaginitis, does the PA have enough experience and training to do a safeguarding assessment on a 5yr old to exclude the red flag for abuse? Cos I don’t, and I’ve been in this game a long time 🤷♀️
@medicalmodelbri if that patient had come to our GU clinic, even our F2 wouldn’t touch her. Not appropriate for any lone clinician outside of a paeds specialist. Would have been flagged for senior Dr + senior nurse together. This is frankly outrageous.
@medicalmodelbri how many other prescriptions are the “supervising” doctors being expected to blindly sign? This experiment has to stop. This child could now be traumatised for life. And do they know what actually *was* wrong with her?
@medicalmodelbri@Mary_Tom11 “pts wishing to be seen be a health care professional”. How many people rock up to the GP surgery and ask to “see a health care professional, please”. They want a Dr, expect a Dr, and I bet most think they have seen a Dr.
@vcg239@medicalmodelbri@lengreview They have. Dental therapists are starting to fill up the NHS dental practices in my area.
They are allowed to do quite a lot of stuff. Be amazed if that role isn't expanded to cover more work
@Victoria_Rixon St Mary’s Hospital Portsmouth in early 2000. Happy to name and shame the unit. Would name the midwife if I didn’t think I would get into trouble, and she’s caused me enough trauma!!
@Victoria_Rixon back, and they didn’t know until she came out 26hr later with a third degree tear and a purple swollen head as she had been pushing against my pelvis. I can still remember midwife name and face even now. Total evil witch.
A midwife from the panorama Maternity Failings last night wrote ‘FOH’ against patients names. Fuck off Home. Absolutely disgusting.
I referred a midwife to the NMC last year who was investigating a baby death - during a discussion she said the family were ‘vile’ & ‘wanted midwives sacked’ for the death of their baby. Behaviours like this do exist in our profession.
