1/ Now the embargo has lifted, I’ve had time to read the @lengreview in full. While some celebrate minor cosmetic wins, I see the formal entrenchment of a parallel, underqualified medical workforce — built without medical training.
We've launched a short survey to find out what working conditions are like in the NHS during the #heatwave
How hot is your workplace? Is there working air conditioning? Is the heat affecting patient care?
Please take our survey and share with colleagues: https://t.co/ThvvEfig6A
Alistair Campbell after the 2016 Brexit referendum,
"Just shocked that we've made such a catastrophically stupid decision. And the world is looking on thinking: didn't you used to be a serious country?"
"I also think there's a lot of buyers remorse"
"On my way here.. A woman said she felt bad for voting leave. I asked: why did you do that then?"
"And she said: I didn't realise that if you voted leave you'd have to leave"
"And you think: oh my god"
"All these people who fell for these lies"
"It's a catastrophe and we're only at the beginning of the consequences playing out"
🗣️ | @Mattylee96: "The impacts of climate change are already being felt, and the cost of delay continues to rise."
We're calling on the next Prime Minister to make tackling climate change a priority of their government

Watching loud tech bros going all in on full body scanning cos AI whilst doctors are like “we’ve all seen this movie before” is peak death of the expert stuff
Also always good to follow the money and medics ain’t selling anything here!
🤷♂️
The Chair of NHS England feels the future is automated care entirely through your smartphone, and describes surgeons as having "dirty, clumsy hands" (compared to robots).
We're really in uncharted territory here.
@QcWynter@indiashairline Strangely if I post medical topics, people presume I’m talking as a doctor. If you’re talking as a lawyer and KC, it is clear one would expect you to have a higher regard for the law than the regular Joe Bloggs
My position was made quite clear elsewhere so I won’t keep going on.
@QcWynter I don’t think it’s public knowledge who the 5 or so are, so that would be speculative.
Nonetheless we know it is approximately 2% of the prison trans population and 0.005% of the total population. On a completely segregated wing.
Not worth losing much sleep over.
Your reminder that Andrew Tate and his brother are facing multiple charges of rape and sex trafficking.
It’s like living in a fucking Brass Eye episode.
This is the standard comeback to criticism of Australia adopting workforce substitution.
Oh, just because the pts started dying in the NHS doesn't mean it will happen here.
Cos Australian will do it properly. Not like those stupid Brits.
So let's look at where Aus HAS
1/
@indiashairline@QcWynter There are five biological males, completely segregated from the female population on a separate wing, in a single women's prison.
We both know no woman is at risk here. So "Parliament must act" comes down to making a symbolic point; that's a poor use of scarce legislative time.
@ZhPhXh@indiashairline@QcWynter No, I'm not saying men were never excluded. I’m saying the current policy is a hard presumption against placement in the women’s estate for relevant offending, with exceptional override (only in theory).
@indiashairline@QcWynter Parliament can legislate, of course.
But why spend parliamentary time on something we agree is a virtual impossibility under the current framework?
@valhumphreys51@drkeithsiau Not for the cannula, unfortunately!
But for routine, small volume IV task, a small cannula is usually enough. Unless resus is likely, routinely reaching for large bore access is overkill and excessive.
I've been texting colleagues about the ballot this afternoon, if you've received one, yes, it really is me! Not long to go now, we want to hear your opinion, please do return the ballot and vote yes!
