@TheWARmonger_@Seth_3773 Eliminate enrollment as a factor and determine classification by competition and success. Enrollment based classification is the biggest issue that needs to change its outdated thinking.
@Seth_3773 The bigger conversation is why do we utilize enrollment as a factor when determining classifications. It should be based on competitive nature of the school and program. Enrollment doesn’t dictate the resources one school puts into athletics over another.
@Seth_3773 It just boggles my mind at the number of people who bring up ‘scholarships’ at private schools and recruiting. I’ve coached at 4 different private schools in different states and not once was I ever able to offer a scholarship. In fact I had more kids not get into the schools.
@Seth_3773 What about private schools that utilize state funded opportunity scholarships (vouchers)? I’ve seen a small private school that received/utilized multiple millions of those well more than triple that of the next highest school in that state.
@Seth_3773 And what about the scholarships for public schools? With magnet and charter schools that have open enrollment borders - that are FREE public schools - why is that never brought up? I view that as a scholarship because what’s the difference free is free public or private?
@Seth_3773 Furthermore the first thing I did at the public school job I had was recruit. I took the head job at the MS nearby to get those kids to come play at the high school. Show me a successful HS program that doesn’t recruit - public or private.
