Great perspective from @NDFootball Coach Marcus Freeman (@Marcus_Freeman1) on why he feels he must remind his players to choose hard:
"Struggle with what you have."
Everyone starts from a different place. Some people are born on third base. Others have never even seen a triple. But growth isn't determined by where you begin, it's determined by the challenges you're willing to embrace.
When you step onto the field, the court, or into any defining moment, nobody cares where you started. What matters is how you've prepared, how you've responded to adversity, and how you've conditioned yourself for the grinding opportunity in front of you. It's a daily choice.
The hard way is the right way.
Choose hard!
Especially when life makes easy available.

STUDENT SUCCESS TIP OF THE DAY
Most people quit when the excitement fades.
That’s why discipline matters more than motivation.

During the recruitment of Anthony to Arkansas, I became extremely close to his family and the Tallulah community. His recruiting story is full of drama.
Following the 1993 & 94 Razorback football seasons, things were very uncomfortable for the staff and many of the coaches were looking for greener pastures; consequently, I accepted another coaching position on the east coast.
After doing so, I met with my players and the ones I had recruited to inform them that I was leaving. Later that evening, Mr. Lucas (Anthony's father) called me and asked if it was true I was leaving the Hogs? I informed him that it was.
His mmediately response was: "So, what's Anthony suppose to do...is he going with you?" I was speechless.
Then in summary, he said to me: Coach, I didn't send Anthony up there to be with Coach Ford...I sent him up there to be with you...now you leaving? This ain't what you were saying when you were recruiting him...I trusted you.
Mr. Lucas challenged the core of my integrity and I couldn't sleep that night. As a result of the conversation with Mr. Lucas, the next morning, I went in and met with Coach Ford and asked for my job back.
I'm grateful Coach Ford said yes, and I'm certain the decision to stay in the midst of the losing turmoil postively impacted my future coaching opportunities.
Lesson learned: You rarely grow in comfort...but we often bear fruit when we stand in the midst of our challenges, while attempting to learn what God is trying to teach us through our trials and tribulations.
The rest is history as Anthony earned All-SEC in his freshman season.
