I keep saying this; most first world people have no theory of mind for the third world, and vice versa.

A story: An acquiantence of mine once hired some poor napalese as housekeepers for their hotel business in Greece. They did it through this "get cheap housekeepers!" agency business.

When they arrived with their one big suitcase, it was all smiles. But literally by day 2, they refused to do almost any work and argued with all the native greek staff.

I was talking to them about it recently and they were abaolutely dumbfounded as to why on Earth they would do this. They just got a lottery ticket out of a remote nepalese slum to an island paradise, and they just throw it all away?

I told them to their face that they lack a theory of mind. In nepalese slums, they still arrange marriages; it is likely their parents told them they will force her to marry Krishna Rama down the road or get a job. And so to escape slavery/arranged marriage with your cousin/whatever, they will take whatever ticket gets them out of the country out of desparation. They don't actually want to work, they just want to escape.

The kicker? They didn't even know that arranged marriage is still a thing in the third world...

Zero theory of mind. Blame poor western education that focuses on Henry 8th and The Holocaust, and luxury tourism to walled resorts.

This reminded me that, effectively, UK supermarkets impose their own kind of socialism, where wealthier people who buy the luxury items greatly subsidize all the life essentials like milk, butter, bread, potatoes, etc.

I actually think this is one of the better forms of socialism, as it helps ensure people don't fall down into hunger and malnutrition.

If UK supermarkets suddenly priced life essentials for a profit on their own, they'de be significantly more expensive and society may fall apart. Seriously.

You seriously didn't think a potato actually costs 15p did you? Or a pack of custard creams for 35p? Nope. It's the middle and upper class buying 25 quid bottles of pimms (a rip off) and 3 quid 500ml bottles of coke that fund it all.

Truly an underknown fact of UK life.

Instead, UK supermarkets operate on a Loss leader-Subsidizer model, where overpriced items like 500ml bottles subsidize underpriced items like bread, fruit, veg, eggs, etc.

The supermarket makes a loss on many items, then makes up for it with high profit items.

It's how a lot of businesses work, and it will continue to work more so as the UK economy becomes more K shaped.

Of course, only if you are insane would you want to do that, however you would at least be with company if you did, because the authors are also equally insane.

On extremist, communism:

First off, the budget excludes some of the most radical, societally collapsing rumors, like wealth taxes and other communistic asset seizures. This will be reassuring for bond markets and general public order.

On the meat and bones:

It is yet more rearranging of the deck chairs. Various taxes and spends are being moved around to no net effect other than optics and preventing further public disorder.

Various aspects of the budget involve either the government directly borrowing money (bonds) to hand it out to certain people (100 GBP to Band A-D households), or indirectly borrowing money (increasing inflation) to hand it out to certain people (min. wage bumps).

There is no meaningful spending cuts seen anywhere. No attack on fraud and abuse. No back-to-work push. Nothing that the country needs.

Either way, it's debt, borrowing money, inflation, and zero productivity boosts.

On the OBR, and lies:

To get past the OBR, as usual, they lie to them that, in order to cover for all the spend, they will do things like open Rosebank oil drilling. Of course, they won't, but the OBR is legally obliged to take this as fact.

They also lie to them that the billions in debt that will be used to keep the UK military afloat will, somehow, by magic, "provide returns, and so pay back the debt". Of course, it won't, but again, the OBR must take this as fact by law.

Final take:

It's lots of little bits of "free" money for certain people, paid for by borrowing and inflation. So nothing improved.

This budget is basically a nothingburger, a delaying tactic before the IMF. The UK bond market agrees.

That 2.4% profit margin is one of the smallest to ever exist in an industry. Apple's is over 25% for comparison.

That tiny sliver of profit is a reward for starting a business and employing people and paying tax (which they paid billions of per year). Also, that 1.7 billion pounds is 17 quid per person in the UK per year if they donated it all.

If there was zero profit to a business, what would be the financial point of ever creating them? Then there would be no jobs but sustenance farming near a river like in 600 AD Wessex?

Every non-western immigrant of the boriswave for example actually requires *more* work from the existing western population, statistically speaking.

This, if anything, implies that either A) The UK government didn't have any idea that this was obviously going to be the case (so they are incompetent), or B) the UK government knew this was the case and did it anyway for an ulterior motive (so they are evil).

This is engagement bait, but the important thing is that there are masses of people who actually do think this. They believe that tricking children into delluding themselves to such detrimental effect is virtuous, i.e. is respecting, loving, and/or caring; "affirming".

They fail to realize that human children often pretend to be many things. In the 80s-00s, it was extremely common for boys to think they were robots because of the meteoric rise in blockbusters with robot/android protaganists, like Terminator 1 and 2. In the 2010's, there was a similar trend of children thinking they were elves/vamps, because of fantasy/romance blockbusters like Lord of the Rings and Twilight.

This has always happened.

This phenomena is called Role Playing. It is a behavior observed mostly in young humans, but even other mammals have been observed to role play too.

It is not good or virtuous for human adults to devilishly trick their children into deluding them that they are actually these invented roles. This is quite obvious. If your child pretends to be a frog, you do not trick them into believing they are actually a frog. This is obviously evil.

If an adult wants to pretend they are a different sex, then that is a different question all together, obviously. However, when it is a child, who is not mature enough to make such consequential, often permenant decisions, it is utterly evil.

As i've said before a week or so ago, the zeitgeist will continue to move against the medicalization of gender disphoria and related self-image issues. Doctors are not dumb people, and that's why doctors have *already* been seen to be cleansing evidence of their historical sex change practices on sites like LinkedIn, their practioner office websites, etc.

My prediction is that sex change doctors will be hunted down like stray mangy dogs on the street in 5-20 years. Detransitioners will be summoned to courts to name them, if evidence has been scrubbed.

Dark times ahead as the trans trend continues to wane and the permenant medical effects linger.
