@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X Are you referring to HBCUs? The H is for Historical, which means that they aren't exclusive to Black students anymore, due in most part to the 1965 HEA which Goldwater was ideologically opposed to.
@TheOpStory1@karma44921039 'Not everyone will agree' & 'it's unlikely to work right away' are not very good as reasons to avoid advocating for something good. Grassroots, long-term advocacy is arguably the most important kind of advocacy, & it usually means knowing those are the case and advocating anyway.
@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X Businesses can refuse service to anyone if it's not for legally impermissible reasons, which, because of Title II of the 1964 CRA (which Goldwater opposed), means they cannot refuse service due to race (not legal advice)
@Shore2Lose@karma44921039 You recognize that the wait exists in Canada and the UK because of decades of conservative governmenance underfunding the system so that there would be an insufficient supply of medical practitioners, right? If you want everyone to have healthcare, don't let conservatives govern.
@Tenglee0111@Tectone Conservative-governed areas are much more likely to have inadequate or no sex ed, to ban abortions, and to have fewer financial support mechanisms for raising children, which all lead to more children born to parents who don't want to or can't raise them well.
@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X If I said "I'd never personally mistreat Black ppl, but I think businesses should be able to put up 'whites only' signs, school buses should able to be separated for white and Black students, and employers should be able to pay Black workers less" would I be racist?
@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X He wasn't racist interpersonally, but very often supported racist systems. He opposed the 1964 CRA & school integration, & was rewarded with Deep South votes. Civil rights leaders regularly condemned him for his anti-Civil Rights positions. Quoted from https://t.co/Z0Ok3bdiIS:
@TheOpStory1@karma44921039 Why would that be more complicated? If you are bothered by the sketchiness of an industry that's induced by combining social trust with a profit motive, then you should advocate for making the industry answer to us instead of to money. Where's the complicated part?
@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X Becoming less racist than the other party means abandoning the part of the country that will vote for the more racist party, yeah. That's just another way of saying the same thing, though.
@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X You are half right. The South was never less racist in this time period, & the North was always less racist than the South (but was still racist). The less racist Rep. party moved towards racism & the more racist Dems moved away from it, as a result the constituencies swapped.
@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X Yes, the South is less racist than it was, but regardless of how it is today, it certainly was more racist than the North in the roughly 50s to 70s period. That the racists changed their voting habits, & both parties' leadership knew it was because of race policy, shows a switch.
Making it so only the wealthy and military members can become teaching aides couldn't possibly have a negative effect on the education system, could it?
Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that donβt make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. https://t.co/6tV30STfyc
There are people who are fully conscious of acting like a 'temporarily suppressed billionaire', and still insist that it's for the best that 95% of Americans are similarly suppressed, apparently
@BASRJIM@RobGoGames@makelibertyw A better question to ask?
What mistakes did I make during my life that resulted in me not having a sizeable net worth?
Far too many.

@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X It could be dissected further but looking at whether those Congress members were from the South, Southern Democrats & Southern Republicans voted consistently against CRA 1964. The problem has always been the racism of the South, it never went away.
@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X That's what the Southern Switch means, though. The Dems changed their policy stance towards being less racist. The North loved them for that so they grew power there, and the South liked the racism, so they grew weaker there, and the Republicans saw the 'racism gap' and filled it
@BrootsW60812@AmYisraelChai_X This has been little to do with the policy changes that Democrats pushed that they knew would lose them the south 60+ years ago. They acknowledged it would be the result, why can't you?
