A blustery morning that feels more like March than June sees the departure from Porthmadog of Double Fairlie ‘Dafydd Lloyd George’ in charge of the ‘Woodland Wanderer’ service.
The other day we visited the ancient church of St Beuno’s at Pistyll and I grabbed the opportunity to do this quick sketch from the edge of the churchyard. To the right, just off the page, is the grave of Rupert Davies, probably best known for playing BBC’s Maigret in the 1960s.
The other day I sat in the wildflower-strewn churchyard of St Hywyn’s at Aberdaron and drew this quick sketch of this beautiful setting.❤️ @VisitLlyn@visitwales@VisitNorthWales
@SarahWoods66 The road was very familiar and I had forgotten about the awful right turn at the crossroads to head towards Porthmadog! People just love steam trains and your tweets just push all the right buttons. 😎🤗
@SarahWoods66 I haven’t been down that road for forty years and it made me smile as we drove over the level crossing, thinking of all the lovely videos of yours that you have shared. Such a change in the weather today - no sketching on location for me!
Visited St Brothen’s, Llanfrothen yesterday - such a delight! The churchyard is an overgrown wildlife haven and I carefully threaded my way through the nettles to create this 10 minute sketch. @friendschurches@visitwales@VisitNorthWales
@SarahWoods66 We will be back in the area on Friday for the week and a chippy tea at Criccieth will be first on the ‘to do’ list! We have been doing similar for over 40 years now.❤️
@SarahWoods66 Beautiful! The famous arch features on the artwork that I created for the Conwy mug and souvenirs at the Edinburgh Woollen Mill store in the town:
