@cuvee_corner @JessycaLewis The drought is probably a big challenge and managing water use. The other being vines getting infected by Leaf Roll virus. The vector being the mealy bug. Tryimg eradicate these vectors and limiting the spread thereof is also a challenge.

I am not 100 % sure about the process but wines also need to pass sensory evaluation and must be labeled according to the country's legislation.

@JessycaLewis In SA, old vine Chenin blanc and old vine Cincault is trending at the moment but they are limited to only a few (lucky) producers.

IPW is an organization that regulates the sustainability in the farming of grapes in SA. Farms need to be audited and pass to qualify for IPW certification. Certified farms receive seals (seen on the bottle capsule). Wines need to have this certification to get exported.

Some wines come with great stories and are worth exploring. Some are even extremely sought after!

Personally, I think so. I think SA makes wines that can compete in quality, but is seen as of lower quality of the price. Especially the wines being exported which can be very cheap and of low quality. SA exports to the UK, USA, Europe and some Asian countries.
