One unarmed civilian vs numerous #police in full gear... What was his chances to harm the #HKpolice? What on earth did he do to deserve to be beaten so badly by #Police?
#HongKong
The #HongKong arrests of Jimmy Lai & others is the latest in a series of anti-Democracy actions by Communist China as they try to silence the will of the people & intimidate any who may speak out against them. We must stand united against injustice & demand freedom for Hong Kong.
I’m deeply troubled by reports of the arrest of @JimmyLaiApple under Hong Kong’s draconian National Security Law. Further proof that the CCP has eviscerated Hong Kong’s freedoms and eroded the rights of its people.
.@chowtingagnes is arrested under National Security Law with the charge of inciting secession. The police are searching her home with a warrant. She will be brought to police station and we don’t know whether she could be bailed. Fingercrossed.

Can you imagine the newsrooms of @nytimes or @guardian encounter something like this? After HK police arrested @JimmyLaiApple, hundreds of police were sent to Apple Daily office without the search warrant.
Hundreds of police broke into the Next Media Building without a warrant.
For the freedom of the press, we stand with @appledaily_hk
The greater the government suppress the people, the stronger the resistance they will create!
Police set up a cordon line inside the office building of Apple Daily when they conduct a search in the newsroom. Apple Daily reporters have to stand behind the cordon line at their own office. There is a lil poster printed with “who’s afraid of the truth!”
My deepest respect to Apple Daily reporters who are continuing to stand firm, to do their jobs and to live-stream the monumental developments in their newsroom today despite the risks. A continuation of their true public service at the forefront of the protests last year. Humbled
Officers are seen examining staffers' desks inside Apple Daily's HQ, contradicting assurances from the National Security Department's Steve Li that journalistic materials would not be searched. Clip: Apple Daily via StandNews. In full: https://t.co/fJM6JmxV6n
Crazy arrests. The end of freedom of press in Hong Kong. The national security law is quashing the freedom of our society, spreading politics of fear.
Hong Kong tycoon Jimmy Lai arrested under security law, bearing out 'worst fears' https://t.co/Bo9eUwa3ho
