Resident Evil
Work stress has been crushing me, so I went to a horror movie—anyone else do that? After the credits, reality felt even colder.
The lead isn’t a trained agent. He’s just a regular guy chasing overtime, learning guns on the fly—a courier who only wants to finish the job and get home to his wife. He starts out delivering a package and walks straight into the Raccoon City nightmare… and he never once gives up. “Mission accomplished” the whole way. Honestly, that already makes him extraordinary—I’d probably freeze the second I met the red-dress farm owner.
The line that wrecked me was his parking-garage goodbye:
“I like kids. I want to take responsibility. I’m sorry. I can’t go back.”
No screaming. No epic set piece. Just a dying husband leaving a few words for the person he loves. That hit harder than any boss fight.
And still—what did it change? The story gives him almost no way out. He reaches the lab on the 28th floor, starts mutating while the cure is still being made, stays lucid long enough to keep begging “Help me, give me the antidote,” and misses it anyway. The lore even suggests the cure might not have saved him. Brutal.
Anyone else watch horror to decompress, then feel more wrecked after?
