Separation Anxiety (Even if it's Just 2 Minutes)
1. Cats are attached to their humans more than they let on.
When you close the bathroom door, they feel suddenly cut off and panic a little - so they call out to you.
2. They Think Bathrooms Are Dangerous
Cats don't understand bathrooms, but they do notice water and closed doors. Since cats are naturally wary of water (to them it can mean danger or drowning), they may scream as if they're warning you.
3. Territory and Curiosity
Cats are territorial animals. A closed bathroom door = "part of my territory is locked away from me." Their instinct pushes them to demand access.
4. They Like Routine
If your cat usually follows you around, the bathroom break interrupts that flow. Some cats scream just to keep the "shadowing behavior" intact.
