You can vote for @cocoalcalde1 for this week's save of the week, but you might be able to vote for her next week after this flying stop to keep the score level at halftime between Rochester and Green Bay!

Most obvious choice, by far. @cocoalcalde1 played out of her mind and was the main reason the game was so close for Rochester. https://t.co/o4rmt6nfHj

ROCHESTER ROAD TRIP REPORT

@RochesterClub has its first ever @USLWLeague home opener today! They dropped a close one to @BavarianSoccer 0-1.

Here’s our report:
- Rochester started in a 4-2-3-1
- Bavarians started in a 4-2-2-2
- Rochester was a bit scattered to start, but that’s somewhat expected for a team only now getting it’s players.
- Bavarians also came out passing and combining really well. Scored in the 10th minute on what would be the game winner.
- Rochester had a player go down with an injury a few minutes later and, after a break for her to be treated/helped off, they actually had — at minimum — equal run of play for the bulk of the middle of the game
- Bavarians largely took the reigns back toward the end of the game other than a late game flurry of chances for Rochester in the last few minutes like the *unreal* free kick by @Lissamizutani that had to be saved (video bottom right)
- both teams probably could have gone to their benches earlier. Reminder, in the W League, there is no reentry. BUT there are 7 subs allowed. So you basically *have* to sub a couple at half, a couple at min 60 etc to get the full use of your bench.
- Fun @GopherSoccer tie in: Katie Koker (Racine native) is on this team but so is Eva Bruer! Both are deep cuts for casual fans but jumped out to us right away
- Top players for Rochester were probably Mizzutani, Birch, DeGannes, and FOR SURE @arecarte844 in the attack and @cocoalcalde1 in goal, who might have no joke saved 3-5 goals with her shot-stopping. Chelsea Brown and Jayda Brown also added some really good energy and spark in a game that was a bit of a tough slog in 80 degree full sun with plenty of players clearly working into shape.
- stadium notes: great playing surface, big stadium, concessions and merch available, nice gameday presentation overall
- Also, don’t look now but @BavarianSoccer stocked up 6 points in their first two games. Plenty of season left but hard for Bavs to feel anything but psyched about that kind of opening weekend.
