A few years ago, I had the privilege of standing on the other side of the classroom — as a teacher. ❤️
Today, on World Teachers’ Day, I celebrate every teacher planting seeds of knowledge, shaping dreams, and building futures, often without knowing how far their impact will go.
Happy Teachers’ Day to every teacher who made a difference in my life, and to everyone still doing this noble work. 📚❤️
Once a teacher, always a teacher. 😊
From being my secondary school teacher to watching you take such a bold step and build an amazing journey abroad. 🥹❤️
This is truly inspiring to see. Congratulations, Sir, on 6 years of this incredible journey! 🇳🇬🇩🇪🇳🇱🇺🇸
God’s plans are always bigger than ours. 🙏🏾
6 years ago today, October 3, 2020, I left Nigeria 🇳🇬 for Germany 🇩🇪.
Many suitcases. A scholarship. An admission to study for my Master’s in Photonics. The fear of moving to a new country without family or friends 😭😭. And plenty of dreams about what life abroad might become.
I certainly didn’t know that six years later, that journey would have taken me from:
Nigeria 🇳🇬 → Germany 🇩🇪 → Netherlands 🇳🇱 → United States 🇺🇸
I resigned from my secondary school teaching job. I still remember how sad I felt the last day I taught my students. I kept looking at them and thinking, “These folks don’t even know this is my last day here before I embark on a journey far away from home.” 😭
I also remember how emotional I felt leaving my music group and friends without telling many of them that I was leaving the country.
Life was fun. I had my people around me. I was comfortable in the life I knew. But of course, I needed to explore what else life could offer me outside Nigeria.
Little did I know that God had much bigger plans waiting for me. 😭😭😭
Six years later, I can only look back and say:
Thank you, Jesus, for everything! 🙏🏾❤️
Should I make a follow-up post about my student life in Germany 🇩🇪, the experiences, the struggles, and some things I’ve never shared before?? 😭
What a journey it has been!
