After years of building software, I finally shipped something of my own.
TickTod is my first iOS app. Its a visual timer I built to help my kids understand time and move through brushing teeth, cleanup, bedtime, and everyday transitions more calmly.
It went live last week, and I have been fixing the smaller things before sharing it properly.
It is not making money yet, but this app is also a way for me to learn the full process of building, releasing, improving and marketing something of my own.
I’ll share the real journey here: product decisions, App Store experiments, mistakes, updates, hopefully revenue, and what actually works.

I thought the hard part of building my first mobile app would be the code. I was wrong.
I’ve been a developer for years, but mobile introduced a whole new world: App Store reviews, subscriptions, device testing, screenshots, pricing, and now learning how to market it.
It can be frustrating, but feeling like a beginner again has also made the project more fun.
What surprised you most when you shipped your first app?
I’ve been experimenting with orchestration using Claude Opus and Codex models.
Has anyone successfully delegated the work to Codex models from Claude?
I have been trying this plugin and so far is working ok https://t.co/J7zmlOQBZu
FYI someone seems to be pretending to be an official npm package of my skills
Avoid at all costs
If this is you, DM me and we can figure it out

@kedytcom I guess this is in your book, but how do you know what the correct keyword for each language is when you don't speak it?
I tried using ai to discover this for me but so far doesn't seem to be doing a good job based on the results for the keywords
mattpocock/skills v1.2 is out!
We're now the 19th most-starred repo of all time. 13.5m downloads on skills.sh. Thanks for your support!
Here's what's new:
- Docs: the community's biggest ask. Every skill documented, with explanations of the main flows + troubleshooting
- Claude Plugin: install via Claude's official marketplace
- Codex Support: full Codex support via agents/openai.yaml files
Updated Skills:
- /grilling now asks you questions in rounds, not one-by-one
- /prototype now uses HTML instead of a TUI for building logic prototypes - easier to share and far richer
- /writing-for-agents renamed from /writing-great-skills, use it for ANYTHING your agents read (AGENTS.md, system prompts, docs)
New Skills:
- /wizard: tired of provisioning infra? Get your agent to build you a TUI to walk you through it
- /to-questionnaire: hit a grilling question you can't answer? Turn the session into a doc you can walk through on a call with a colleague
- /wait-what: no idea what the model said? Refocus it in your domain language and simplify with ASD-STE100
Full changelog + docs below. Video soon!
I just upgraded to the $100 Codex plan, but this built-in iOS Simulator view in Claude Code is insanely useful and makes me want to rethink my decision.
@thsottiaux@Dimillian would this be something that can be added to codex?
This and Claude Design are honestly the only two things keeping me coming back to Claude.
Has coding with agents made anyone else unable to switch off?
Knowing I can build almost anything has my brain constantly jumping to the next idea. It’s exciting, but also exhausting
@pcshipp Man I feel the exact same way.
Being a developer and having to use marketing skills to sell what you build is not fun at all but without it you probably won't be able to keep having fun building.
@aryanlabde Do you think this depends on the app.
I am currently building an app for parents and I've seen hard paywalls hurt conversions for these kind of apps.
https://t.co/4bcbLHqpc6 currently testing dremkum, getting some reviews and with more data ab test hard paywalls with trial
@ahmedgagan11 This sounds interesting.
When you say UGC do you mean paying for so.eome to promote your app or doing your own.
And if so do you have some advise for newbies like me with no marketing experience.
I found this expo post super useful to achieve just that although for this specific https://t.co/5EcSnbOhre using custom skills since I'm going the ios native route
Seems like @theo approach is multiplying even in other apps 😅.
I do find this to be very helpful while building and debugging. Plus Expo and some custom xcode skills for native builds make this so much easier
