@SloanRachmuth THANK YOU!!!!!!! Until MEN experience what us women/mothers go through.. PLEASE keep your comments, thoughts, disgusting behavior to yourself!! IT'S NOT THAT HARD.
@EggerDC I'm trying to figure out if you, Matt Walsh, have PERSONAL experience with 9 months of pregnancy, delivery, AND caring for a newborn etc? No, you haven't because you're a MAN and will NEVER understand what it's like for women & child birth. SO PLEASE JUST STOP.
Compassion… the only emotion I can feel for Lindsay Clancy.
A young woman who seemingly had it all—a happy marriage, a nursing career, three beautiful babies, friends and a life she had worked hard to build.
And yet, she was struggling.
From what I’ve heard in these 14 days of testimony and research….She was Type A. An overachiever. A hypervigilant mother who desperately wanted to do motherhood “right.” She wanted to be capable. She wanted to be well. And perhaps that made admitting just how unwell she was becoming even harder.
She sought help. She was evaluated. Medications changed. Sleep became profoundly disrupted. And somewhere beneath the woman everyone could still see functioning was a woman seemingly fighting desperately to hold herself together.
That is what I cannot stop thinking about.
How sick does a mother have to look before we believe she is sick? How many ways does she need to admit I’m having dark thoughts of harming my children before there’s an intervention. How many meds need to be prescribed + changed before there’s body breaks?
You can be educated and still be sick.
Loved and still be sick.
High-functioning and still be sick.
A devoted mother and still be sick.
Something catastrophic happened that night. Three precious children lost their lives, and nothing about compassion for Lindsay diminishes that horror. But I feel to my core there’s something more.
I cannot shake the possibility that she didn’t simply stop loving her children.
She may have reached a place where whatever was happening inside her became stronger than her ability to fight it.
And if we refuse to examine how a woman can seek help, appear capable, and still deteriorate this profoundly, then we learn nothing from this tragedy.
Sometimes the people fighting hardest to look okay are the very people we need to see more clearly. #lindsayclancy #mentalillness #compassion @kevinreddi35550
whatever happens in the Lindsey Clancy trial, a main conversation we need to be having is why the hell men are still going on with their lives like their wives aren’t struggling? Why are their hobbies not put on hold? Why do they not change how they behave when their wife says she’s drowning and struggling? If you want to keep living a childfree existence or feel it cuts into your personal hobbies, don’t fucking have kids. Allowing your wife to go through that while your life continues is abuse.
@ErickaAndersen I just LOVE how men express their feelings toward PPD & women who deal with Mental Health like they know what it feels like.. SO IRRITATING.
To the Matt Walshes of the world:
I had severe postpartum anxiety after my first child was born.
It was a weird, wacky experience I've never had at any other time in my life—including with my second child.
I was afraid to drive and thought he was going to die all the time -- from spitting up, coughing, or being in his car seat.
I was crying all the time, terrified of....something. I was on maternity leave and happy to do *anything* for my child.
It had nothing to do with not wanting to make sacrifices...or whatever he said.
So, I don't know, it seemed pretty specific to postpartum and not something I made up.
Yesterday wasn’t justice to celebrate. It was human suffering—and some of the reactions to it have been almost as difficult to witness as the testimony itself.
Lindsay Clancy doesn’t fit the image many people carry of what severe mental illness is supposed to look like.
She was young. Beautiful. Educated. A nurse. A wife and mother living what appeared to be a comfortable, upper-middle-class life.
And she sought help.
Perhaps that is precisely why this case makes some people so uncomfortable. Mental illness is easier to understand when the person suffering somehow looks like our idea of someone who should be mentally ill.
But severe psychiatric illness doesn’t care what your house looks like, what degree hangs on your wall, how beautiful you are or how much you love your children.
And if you found yourself feeling satisfaction yesterday as Lindsay sobbed while hearing graphic descriptions of her children’s deaths, I would gently ask you to examine why.
You do not have to believe she is legally innocent to have compassion for her.
You do not have to minimize the unimaginable loss of Cora, Dawson and Callan to recognize the suffering of their mother.
And you certainly don’t have to enjoy watching another human being psychologically collapse in order to believe in justice.
Compassion is not acquittal.
Mental illness is not a moral failure.
And another person’s suffering should never become our entertainment or a moment to relish in the agony.
If we truly want people to disclose frightening thoughts and seek help before tragedy occurs, we should think very carefully about what our behavior yesterday told the next terrified mother who is watching. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@FemCondition@TiredTravelor I mean.. I think it’s only human for someone to break down uncontrollably while hearing what was done to her kids, especially knowing it was HER fault. Like what?
@tinamarie6566@SikhFeminist Have you ever been prescribed an SSRI? It’s literally trial & error until you find what works for YOU. Was she not allowed to advocate for herself?? And being an L&D nurse, she wasn’t exactly clueless about these medications.
I truly don't understand how people cannot grasp that no one is excusing what Lindsay did. Two things can be true. What happened was horrifically tragic, AND she was mentally ill and repeatedly tried to get help. Acknowledging one does not take away from the other. Mental illness is a real thing. Acknowledging that does not take away from what happened. #LindsayClancy #LindsayClancyTrial
@QueensSpeec1@BrianEntin “On purpose” is a bit much. The fact that someone chooses telehealth doesn’t mean they’re purposely avoiding in person treatment or that they aren’t taking their mental health seriously. Sometimes people are simply doing the best they can with the options they have.
To all my girls chasing a new chapter, be gentle with yourself. What’s meant for you will always find you, so trust the process and give yourself grace. You’ve got this! ♥️
