Hey Twitter can y’all show me some love?
I’m a young, black self-taught dev currently searching for an iOS dev role I just need an opportunity!
Skills:
- Swift (Xcode)
- Javascript (Node.js)
- Firebase
- 3 apps on iOS App Store
I’d highly appreciate any referrals/leads 🙏🏾
I used to want to build out every little feature from scratch, but working in a fast-paced startup has really made me realise that it's almost never worth reinventing the wheel if somebody has already built something that meets your needs.
It's amazing how often the difference between "I'll never understand how to do this" and "I'm pretty comfortable doing this" is literally just trying it once.
Just did a quick search for principal engineers on LinkedIn.
Of the 300+ I scanned through
Only 2 were black 😞
This is EXACTLY why I can’t stop until I make it to such a level. I must inspire young boys and girls that look like me, or die trying. ✊🏾
*Works on fixing a bug for 3 hours with no progress and a multitude of contempt for programming*
...
*Wakes up the next morning and fixes the bug in 2 minutes*
🤦♀️
Build stuff in your spare time whilst you still have spare time.
Cut your teeth on simpler projects before you bite off more than you can chew by promising people complex apps.
So I'm starting to really enjoy writing documentation using @NotionHQ, it's quick and beautiful and makes focusing a breeze.
I still use VSCode or Vim with some choice plugins for writing READMEs though
she’s sooooo pleased with herself when she says you don’t watch it do you, WHO CARES???,!’ can’t believe people pretend to care about the monarch this much. xmas is a time to be with ur loved ones and he’s being vilified for it? AND he goes to a homeless shelter? i. i give up man
✨ I did a little writeup about the term "Microservices"- I get questions about what this term means, so did a bit of a breakdown.
Also, used it as an excuse to drop in a little "gooey" animation effect for a diagram. Cheers!

hot take but i don't think years spent coding = experience. some coders are in fail fast fail often environments where they learn years worth of tech stacks in months. others spend decades using the same language with the same ~100 functions. years aren't an accurate measurement
Optional Chaining & Nullish Coalescing are coming to JavaScript! They're short, readable and are both available to try in Chrome Canary 🎉

Fun fact! Baby elephants are born weighing ~250 pounds, making them the world’s biggest babies, right next to the people who complain that CSS isn’t really coding 🧠✨💅🏼
