Given the popularity of third-party clients in the #a11y community, this will probably result in the death (or at least significant erosion) of blind Twitter. If it all crashes and burns, I’m on Mastodon at [email protected].

@moashy_mango@NVAccess@austingrace777 Debian? NVDA is a Windows product. It will never make it to any Linux because it calls too many windows specific APIs.
@shaonicwhite This is very true! For his PhD, the author of my accessibility package for Emacs, keeping this in mind, created a really clever system for reading highly technical documents more efficiently: https://t.co/6ImS2QNKAF

@laurenancona In other words, please try not to worry about offending blind people by using clearly metaphorical language (“blind” in sense 2, or even “look” or see” with us)!
@laurenancona I don’t want to speak for the entire community, but me and the vast majority of blind people I know clearly understand the difference and don’t get offended by metaphorical usage – in fact, we use it that way ourselves!
So I have a newsletter now! Very short essays on media & storytelling, plus updates on any new fiction & poetry I've had published. Monthly, unless I have nothing new to announce.
If you sign up, you get a free weird science fiction short story.

If you or anyone you know reads #SFF in Spanish: have you checked out Voces de lo insólito? They're a really cool translation project (also interviews and other things!) and I'd love it if they got some more attention.
RT if that's your thing?

@tenniseric32597@GergelyOrosz Accessibility is a lot harder to get right, speaking as a totally blind screen reader user and software engineer (though I don’t develop with React Native).
BREAKING: NINE Republican state senators from Michigan supported a law that makes it a misdemeanor for an unmarried man and woman to live together.
Two of the GOP lawmakers, who voted against the repeal argued that the law encourages marriage and strengthen families. Another seven quietly supported the measure.
Democrats slammed the GOP remarks and accused them of being out of touch with modern times.
We’re happy to report the law has been stricken from the books despite GOP attempts.
What the hell year are we living in?
I've got a science fantasy short story out in @LightspeedMag! Only 1500 words, so you won't have time to get bored. It'll be available online for free on 4/27. Thank you so so so much @wnwagner and @JohnJosephAdams! Link in 🧵⬇️ #SFF#flashfiction
Transferwise (great & memorable brand) -> Wise (what? why?)
HBO Max (great & memorable brand) -> max (what? why?)
Why do great & memorable brands keep sabotaging themselves by removing the part of their name that made them memorable?
If you’re autistic and looking for a job, don’t be afraid to apply for roles you like but don’t meet all - or even most - of the requirements for. Job specs are not meant to be taken literally; NT people often apply for and secure jobs meeting only a fraction of the requirements.
