Nursing school didn’t teach me how to kneel on the floor and listen to a widow verbally process what life will be like after 60 years of marriage to the love of her life, while his body is in the bed next to her, recently departed.
But nursing did. Thank God for nursing.
@RammahaSahar @pipkinase This is super valid and worth sharing with your faculty. I’m sorry. He should should be up there with you.
Fans showing up and calling a hospital where a player is being rendered care is only slightly less inappropriate than the NFL lagging to cancel this game for the evening immediately.
Y’all I’m gonna be honest, they need to have an on-call emergency physician or trauma physician to Zoom in to ESPN to explain what’s going on since I don’t think it’s being explained well what happened…

sassy nurse. you only live once, so you should live out loud! 🙋🏻💅🏼🍾💉💊 **tweets are my views not my employers, not that you know where I work anyway**
Immediately.
There is no way an ambulance just chilled there for a few minutes waiting for family???? I don’t care how “stable” he is (no one is stable after CPR) get him to the hospital!!!! Time is brain
@emilymarieexo Intubated?
It’s upsetting to see that the public still has no idea what #CPR looks like…administering oxygen =/= CPR
two things are are burning out people who dedicated their lives to the care of others:
1. The way we provide care being dictated by those whose interests are purely profitability/cost (c suite, insurance, etc)
2. Blatant unmitigated abuse from family members/support persons
@dewaldali Me having to really check to look who is mom and who is daughter, you’re both beauties! This is SO awesome to see, best of luck with everything, you have an amazing role model!
My staff called security for a violent patient who made them feel unsafe.
Security showed up and berated them for calling. One of my nurses even apologized.
Y’all really wanna see me come UNDONE before 0745, huh?
Protect nurses.
And that Med student pushed RSI drugs for the first time today 🥳🥳🥳
I just helped a Med student put in their first EJ IV and they were so excited so I was so excited and now they’re going to come back later to put in a posterior forearm peripheral because it’s a neat trick to know. I love working with excited people 🥺🥺🥺🥺
hEDS & Mastocytosis patient being managed by an OBGYN in the ICU (no other consults) orders to give IM Epi q15 minutes PRN “flares”
Per patient, flare = bone pain, insomnia
No uticaria, angioedema, N/V/D, hypotension, LOC, just Epi on demand for pain and not sleeping
MD is board certified in OB & GYN, but certainly not rheum or endocrine. Says she’s competent to treat the patient because she also has this syndrome ??? This patient gets Epi multiple times a day. If she cries, has pain, or just believes she’s having a “flare”….Epi
Old people are wonderful, precious, valuable members of our society….if you don’t see them that way please don’t put yourself in a position where you are “caring” for them.
They deserve the best, too 😔
I don’t respect hydralazine. What a frustrating drug.
The most jarring realization when you work in healthcare is when you realize that you and the people who lead you have two totally different goals.
You want to heal, and they want to profit.
90% of “difficult” patient and family situations can be resolved by coming in the room and offering a positive and kind introduction and enthusiastically discussing the plan of care for the day. I pull up a chair and take 5 minutes to talk to them. I have good luck with this. ❤️
I walk into the room of a patient who was reportedly being “difficult”
She says, “I trust you because you’re black.”
I hadn’t even said anything yet.
Representation will always matter.
Name that supportive device.
So, you've decided not to get vaccinated
@rn_critcare So horrible :( it’s so hard to find a provider in network
An absolute angel 🤍 even after all this hurt, nurses keep showing up in their A Game for their patients. I’m so proud of us. We deserve better.
A nurse poked her head in my room while I was hooking my patient up to the breast pump and asked why...
To keep up her milk supply in case she survives Covid.
But what if she dies.
I'm freezing it in case it's her final gift to her baby.
Please get vaccinated.
