The Danger of Pride

The Bible repeatedly warns that pride is one of the oldest and deadliest sins.

Before there was sin on earth, pride rose in heaven.

Bible says:

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

Pride says:

• “I know better than God.”

• “I will live my own way.”

• “I do not need correction.”

• “My desires matter more than God’s truth.”

That spirit was found in Lucifer.

Pride turns the heart away from submission to God.

God Calls Everyone to Repentance

The Gospel is not aimed at one category of sinners only. The Bible teaches that all have sinned.

That includes:

• sexual sin,

• greed,

• lying,

• hatred,

• drunkenness,

• adultery,

• unforgiveness,

• pride itself.

No person is righteous without Christ.

Christ did not come merely to condemn sinners — He came to save them.

Speak Truth With Compassion

Christians are called to stand on biblical truth, but also to speak with love, humility, and mercy.

Every believer is someone whom God rescued from sin.

So the attitude of a Christian should never be:

• self-righteousness,

• hatred,

• mockery,

• cruelty.

Instead:

• truth with grace,

• conviction with compassion,

The Real Message of Proverbs 11:2

The deeper warning of the verse is this:

If a nation, church, or individual proudly rebels against God and refuses correction, shame and destruction follow. But those who humble themselves before God find wisdom and mercy.

The answer to sin is not human pride against human pride.

The answer is repentance, faith in Jesus Christ, and surrender to God.
