@modrinth@irisaxem This would be great. We’re currently using ServerPackLocator to run Terrariums testing server, and while I was able to set it up pretty easily, it’s a bit annoying to install mods into its servermod folder.
@mothdamn@Minecraft Microsoft actively protects modders on the Marketplace and doesn’t allow the exact kind of thing youre talking about. I’m not sure where you got that from. Theres a high barrier to entry for the marketplace, but modders more than anyone are given special treatment to get on there
@Whahooo24437@Malachi_twit@DalekIsBored It is so frustrating how quick everyone is to jump on misinformation abt Essential. Youre right no amount of explaining would help. It sucks because our partnership has genuinely enabled so much, like being able to give our team real jobs. Wish it didnt come with a so much anger
@SpaceHardcore88@DalekIsBored No, it removes it permanently from the menu. Also to even see the ad, you have to press that lil blue button, it doesnt automatically pop up.
@DaContinuedOak@SumersChamp@codeHusky This ^^. New updates on Bedrock addition are almost entirely behavior packs atp, that kind of functionality does not exist in Java. They have been taking huge strides toward it every update, which should set them up to perhaps making the games code more stable in a few years
@jackm7195@Mario64World@CagilMartin It isn't bad faith, I'm not sure how you could interpret "Mojang is lazy" as anything other than "Mojang needs to do more work" aka bigger scale. I agree that maybe they should focus on bringing old content up to the new standards, but all I see is hatred of the scale, not focus.
@jackm7195@Mario64World@CagilMartin What you call laziness, I call restraint. If Mojang implemented the scale of changes everyone wanted for as long as Mojang wanted to continue making updates, the game would look like an eldritch horror by the time my grandkids could try it.
@BodeNinja@siahwolf77991 They're also making massive overhauls to the registration system as well, likely gearing up for a more robust addon system in Java. Their focus is split atm for much needed infrastructure changes for the long term health of the game. I imagine drops will be better in the future
@HSainho@krauio@hugomarqzf Hi, I'm a mod developer. Not sure if the translation was correct, but most mod devs don't actually mind the updates. We ignore most of them until the big number changes, and we actually like the changes Mojang is making to the technical parts of the game that most people dont see
@uncreativetom As an Apple user I do like this idea, but for a (presumably) new system it feels like these shouldn’t be icons. It seems bad but I don’t know what some of these things are trying to say. I assume the QR code shows more detailed information?
@themodderG@Stryxo I think we’re so deep into the games mechanics as modders that we forget how little the average user understands of the technicals lol. No way I’d be able to explain to the casual player the differences between the Minecraft versions in a way that’d get them to care to pick one.
@themodderG@Stryxo I don’t think it’s a reasonable response to the exact kind of casual player this kind of advice would be directed at. “Oh just use the version switcher and switch to 1.x.x”. We as modders understand how that works and what those versions have, but the casual player wouldn’t.
@Hunty_4KHDR@Stryxo Users also have the freedom to download and install what they want and use it only on certain worlds. That kind of flexibility gives them room to make projects that otherwise would not be appropriate for an update that would be a permanent part of the game
@Hunty_4KHDR@Stryxo Almost all of the content on the marketplace is not developed by Microsoft themselves. It’s all either third party studios creating unique content or licensing deals to get brand integration. Microsoft doesn’t use it to deliver update-worthy content behind a pay wall. 1/2
@DecoyTheHoloBoy@Stryxo@BedwarsIgnited@speedy_spot I think you gotta take a step back and realize that critiquing a sandbox game for not having enough new story elements added to it is a fundamental misunderstanding of what the game is trying to do and that maybe Minecraft isn’t the right game for you.
@alteregoanyyy@RealBlackout03@Stryxo In the same vein, you could say things like the mounts of mayhem added little value to the users who only play MC to build and essentially do art with. They gotta cater to a large diverse audience, not every update is necessarily going to cater to their entire audience
