Not sure who this will reach, but figured it was worth a shot
I wrote a guide on how to approach skill improvement in Chunithm and rhythm games in general, hopefully it helps old and new players alike

@Losermanwins Looking forward to the release! Really excited that a talented creator is making the effort to encapsulate this year-long journey that SEGA has been taking us along for 🔥
However, I really hope that they ramp down the average chart difficulty significantly more in line with previous versions, as there are 9 15+s (and 1 16 lol) added in XVX, which is an insane push to the difficulty ceiling. One limit break should be enough for a couple of years
What a rollercoaster for Chunithm, as much as I am dreading the eventual task of playing the new charts myself I enjoyed cheering on the JP rankers and watching the spectacle that caps off the 10th anniversary!
There's a lot of nice touches from SEGA that pays homage to the past
The thing I am probably the happiest with is the overall quality of music this update, and I think YOUNITHM and Melodiniq are fantastic additions to the gcm catalogue (onoken❤️).
The vfx on the chart was also very exciting to watch as it makes you think "wait they can DO THAT?"
@SaintSFGil Higher skill players making fun of other players purely for being lower skill is toxic in any game. If players are having fun let them
It’s also annoying when players ask for advice on how to improve, ignore said advice from other players and wonder why they are stuck
Rhythm Game Goals for 2026 (made right before the new year I just forgot)
- chuni 99.4% OP, full game SSS
- iidx sp kaiden
- ongeki 16.0 old scale 20.0 new scale (idk if that’s equivalent)
- run a bigger chuni tournament 🏆
@5elatan I’ve seen this too! Turns out a lot of “being good at rhythm games” is knowing yourself and how to improve effectively.
I’ve seen players go in both directions successfully
@NitroX72 I think the decentralized and fragmented nature of rhythm game communities are a major hurdle for sharing such information until it reaches a certain level of ubiquity.
At the very least, there’s isn’t really a one stop resource for the new popular arcade rhythm game in the US
@NitroX72 I’ve had similar thoughts of trying to figure out how to encourage positive mentality as an essential part of skill improvement, and ended up with something that seems to be well received and shared within the English speaking Chunithm community (pinned comment on my profile)
