Johnny Ball, beloved presenter and household name from 1980s children's television, paid us his first-ever visit this week after bringing in an injured juvenile crow he spotted struggling in his garden.
Thank you, Johnny, for helping wildlife when it needed you most!
Meet Doug.🦔Found in a trench at a building site, he was caked in mud, exhausted and unable to climb out.
By the time he reached us, he was dehydrated and very hungry. After a gentle check-over and some much-needed fluids, Doug didn’t hesitate when his first meal was offered… 😊
⚠️🐦 This poor grey wagtail was rescued after becoming stuck on a glue trap, losing its tail feathers and many others in the struggle to escape. Our vets are carefully removing the sticky residue as it begins its recovery. A reminder of the danger glue traps pose to wildlife.💚
We’ve seen a surge in rescued owlets recently, including these four now in our expert care.
Young tawny owls often leave the nest before they can properly fly, with their parents still nearby caring for them. If you find a young owl on the ground, please contact us for advice🧡🦉
This Little Owl is receiving specialist care at Tiggywinkles after being brought in with a head trauma caused by a collision with a car. A detailed eye examination can assess the extent of the injury. Please be mindful of wildlife when driving as owls often fly low while hunting.
I came across a theory that AI is starting to make more mistakes because the internet is increasingly polluted with AI slop. The idea of AI cannibalising itself into obscurity is one of my favourite things ever. I hope it is true and I hope it becomes impossible to fix.
🦎This slow worm was caught by a cat, suffering painful puncture wounds and dropping the tip of its tail while trying to escape - a defence mechanism used by many reptiles. After antibiotics, pain relief and specialist care, this harmless legless lizard made a great recovery 💚🌿
🐣💚 Just look how tiny this baby blue tit is…
So small, fragile, and completely dependent on specialist care.
Every year, our team cares for hundreds of tiny nestlings during the busy baby bird season - each one a reminder of just how delicate British wildlife can be 💚
🦡💚 These rescued badger cubs each arrived at Tiggywinkles as tiny, vulnerable babies, needing round-the-clock care and bottle feeds. Now look at them! Enjoying life in our specially built enclosure helping them develop the natural behaviours they’ll need for life in the wild.
💚🐦 This tiny goldcrest fledgling was rescued after being found on the ground with a splayed leg.
Goldcrests are Britain’s smallest bird, weighing little more than a 20p coin.
Thankfully, this little one is now safe at Tiggywinkles and receiving the specialist care it needs💚
🦔This #EndangeredSpeciesDay, take action for hedgehogs.
📷 Add a wildlife-friendly corner in your garden
📷 Make gaps in fences to allow them to roam
📷 Avoid slug pellets & garden chemicals
📷 Check long grass before you strim or mow
Every hedgehog saved really does matter.
❤️🐦Your support helps us give rescued birds, like this beautiful pair of robins, the second chance they deserve.
If this moment made you smile today, please consider adopting a robin at Tiggywinkles 🧡

🦉💚These orphans were found by a fallen tree and need our vital care. But not every owlet on the ground is orphaned. Young tawny owlets will leave the nest, hopping between branches to explore with parents nearby. If you come across one, observe from a distance & seek advice.🧡
💔🦔When Bramble arrived we found old, infected wounds - likely from a strimmer. He’d been suffering like this for a long time & arrived in a very bad way. Now, he’s finally getting medical care.
#HedgehogAwarenessWeek Please check before strimming or mowing - it can save lives💚
🥚💚 When a boy found an egg on the ground, his mum brought it in to us, unsure if anything could be done. We did what we do - gave it a chance. In our incubator, 4 weeks later, it hatched. A brand new life🐣
But here’s the question… can you guess what species it is? 👀
