Meanwhile, FSU was carrying $437MM in athletics-related debt (which is 71% of total institutional debt) in 2025. FSU is a great institution, and I have a ton of respect for their history, tradition, and culture, but comparing them to the University of Texas and its $77.5B endowment is like comparing horses and house cats.
Could FSU pay a $68MM buyout PLUS buy their way out of the @ACCconference??
No worries. I’m sure that Florida taxpayers won’t mind footing the bill! @GovDeSantis

@Zachhoop@ACCconference@GovDeSantis You obviously weren’t paying attention back then (or to the things I say to Texas now), but nonetheless, the massive (and very real) difference here is that Texas has virtually unlimited financial resources.
Arkansas super booster John Tyson talking about the new faces of NIL. People ask why Tyson can't do for Arkansas football what Cody Campbell is doing for Texas Tech.
"He's got oil, I've got chickens," Tyson jokes, eliciting quite a laugh at the Little Rock Touchdown Club.
For the record, I walked up and put @brettyormark in a solid headlock just before this picture was taken…true story! 😂 All in good fun. Go @Big12Conference!
NEW: Trump's advisor on college sports, Randy Levine, tells @FOS that the effort to get rid of the Protect College Sports Act's expansion restriction is futile.
"I've talked to the Big Ten yesterday and the SEC. And they have no plans to expand.”

I AM one of those athletes, who elevated himself through sports.
This bill more than doubles the revenue share paid to athletes, protects them from predatory agents, provides money for post-sport medical care, and finally gives them a true seat at the table with respect to how the sports are governed.
Amazing bipartisan vote last night to pass the Protect College Sports Act in the Senate! This is a huge win for athletes, schools, fans, and everyone who loves college sports!
Tonight the U.S. Senate passed the Protecting College Sports Act, through an overwhelming and bipartisan 77-22, vote! Congratulations and thank you to @tedcruz@SenatorCantwell, @Senator_Schmitt, @ChrisCoons, their staffs, and Senate Commerce staff. Also huge thanks to @realDonaldTrump, @WhiteHouse staff, the legendary Randy Levine and Nick Saban, Dary Stone, and thousands of athletes, hundreds of universities, dozens of conferences, and innumerable passionate fans who helped make history tonight.
This bill is a huge step forward in protecting opportunity, stability, and sustainability of this uniquely American institution - especially women’s sports, our Olympic programs, and the often-forgotten communities that revolve around and depend on college sports.
We strongly urge the House to move as quickly as possible and send this bill to the President’s desk!
