@autismsupsoc@TpaNonprofit When I was young... maybe 10-14 years old, I called myself a whole contradiction, and an enigma. I didn't understand all my different parts and how they could all be the same person. Then lots of drugs and alcohol, then raising kids and now I'm a middle-aged human waking up.
@audhdgalaxy @AutisticCoach_ I find it really unnerving when people don't share stories. I feel like they aren't interested in connection.
I don't even understand how people connect otherwise. It all seems superficial in the allistic world.
What would happen if migrants on boats with limited resources were also seen as brave explorers gifted with curiosity and wonder for depths unknown, I wonder.
@UntoNuggan No one told me how to get pain meds after my 10 pills ran out after major surgery. I also never received a follow-up call from a nurse. Just wheeled me to my car -- see ya! Acted annoyed when I requested a refill through the portal.
Temperatures have passed 30C in London today, overwhelming some soldiers who took part in a military parade alongside Prince William

Pain is a signal in the body that something is wrong, something is malfunctioning.
NEVER have I EVER had a pain signal that did not have an underlying physical cause.
Never.
@laurenancona Also, "would you mind..." is not a direct request. At all.
"Will you take out the trash as soon as you can, in the next half hour? The trash is full and I am focused on the dishes right now."
@otherhappyplace Recently experienced this while texting with tech support. I can usually tell when it's a bot, but this time I was just ... confused? And then...

For quite a while, I thought this tech support was actually a helpful human. They weren't quite grasping my issue, and I just assumed they were kinda not very techy.

@laurenancona 15 years later, desperate to repair my relationship with my now-adult autistic son, I started following ND accounts on FB. Almost every post was *me*. At least the real true me that I had learned to hide away.
@laurenancona My first inkling that my kid was autistic was when our friend told us his son really only plays well with other autistic kids. I looked over at them playing together and could see all the similar traits. They played together like they'd known each other forever.
