The school principal sets the tone for a school. A tone of intentional risk-taking, innovation, and creativity or a tone of rigid compliance. It is the principal who can stifle creativity, imagination, and risk-taking or empower staff to find their greatness…right now.
The Tax Collector activity was a big hit yesterday! Students did a great job earning $ and paying the factors of their paycheck to the tax collector. I loved watching groups figure out strategies to keep the most $ for themselves! #buildingthinkingclassrooms#wearehawks
I saw such great engagement today! The task: How many different orders could they make with $5 for each order. And they had to calculate the change from $5. A great task for adding/subtracting decimals. #buildingthinkingclassrooms#wearehawks

Students doing math-all class every day. T’s observing-managing class, extending open tasks, giving hints and help. Looks like this.
This is the way!! For years I struggled with the question of how to get my students to THINK. I literally had this word plastered on the back of my wall my second year teaching. Excited to start this journey and see where it leads. #buildingthinkingclassrooms
