Orphaned oil and gas wells are a serious issue for local communities, liabilities, and industry
This is incredible work and shows how carbon removal is bigger than just removing carbon
@CharmIndustrial is plugging wells and removing carbon
@reinpk@mcuban fun to hear you offset your air travel emissions! Ever considered removing them as well? We don't do stadium deals, we're converting abandoned oil assets & putting the bio-oil we make back where crude oil used to be.

1 kilo of modular bio-oil sequestration at scale: priceless and also somehow just โฌ0.20 ๐ข๏ธ

Massive news out of the @CharmIndustrial team
Clear line of sight to <$200 CDR has big implications for models, pathways for decarbonizing industry, and deployment potential
Great work team
Bio-oil carbon removal credits have sold for $600/t for years, but everything points to the price dropping below $200/t as it ramps up, not with megafacilities, but with many efficient pyrolysers in the field. New peer reviewed TEA just released.
@jasonaramburu This other paper from late last year does a nice job of articulating the utility of both multi-century and multi-millenia removals in the conclusion. IMO we should value a range of durabilities for their relative utilities. https://t.co/CRWjDU8ztS
Welcome to the team, Garrett!
Garrett Lutz is joining the @CharmIndustrial team to scale our monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV), helping us deliver the highest quality & most transparent carbon removal on the planet

"Delete the part" is my new mantra.
We deliver carbon removal by injecting bbq sauce deep underground, and you'd think we need a pump to do that. At least, we certainly though we needed a pump!
The team thought I was a bit bananas for suggesting deleting it, but we tried deleting it anyways. Easy to test. Instead of a pump we just pressured up the tank truck, a clever idea from one of our injection operators!
Injection time fell 90%! Everything worked better. And it cost less!
Just delete the part.
Every wildfire starts with an ignition โย downed powerlines, lightning, arson โย and we can do a lot to reduce these.
But in California the number of fires has dropped while the area burned has doubled. What has changed is conditions, not ignitions:
