Understanding Funding Rates in perpetual contracts.

In the crypto market, perpetual futures have become the backbone of trading, accounting for nearly 75% of total CEX volume as of late October 2025.

Despite this dominance, many traders still do not fully understand funding rates i.e. a core mechanic of perp markets that shapes sentiment, trading costs, and price stability.
