@luvblexy the only way to change as a person is to become someone new… unless you are both willing to let go of your former selves, there will be no change.
had a realization recently that i was becoming brain rotted and not actually responding thoughtfully/interacting with intension during the conversations i was having… then i started to lock in when speaking (!!) and listening and i feel so much more alive and stimulated…
the parts of feminism that centers women tho like the scene of barbie calling the older woman beautiful and the speech that ruth gave about motherhood hit SO much harder and gave the movie a lot of substance because to me centering men is something that you can just…. not do
i loved barbie but as a lesbian who doesn’t have any men in their life i can never relate to the feminist movement when it comes to stuff like beauty standards or slut shaming i’m just so far removed from it that it really enforces my disconnection from womanhood
barbie last night that final scene when ruth says “mothers stand still so their daughters can see how far they’ve come” IMMEDIATE TEARS like omg immigrant mommy issues DONT PLAYYYYY
