@RodericDay let me just say I agree subversiveness is an overused argument for this type of media. This movie definitely suffers from the same issues as breaking bad. That being said, I do think as problematic media goes this movie actually attempts to be interesting in its transgression

Here it's a "Wish Gone Bad Crazy BPD GF" film, ft. mutilated women, with a few crumbs to evoke depth.

Fashion was never a male thing. Men have always wore a uniform. Here it was a suit for everyday life. Before that a tailcoat, a justaucorp, doublet, tunic. Or they wore a uniform for their occuptation.

The male uniform makes sense. It looks good in public. the top matches the bottom. It can be worn in any climate. It requires no cognitive energy to figure out what you're going to wear every day.

Now the uniform doesn't exist. We expect men to dress on their own. So 90 percent focus on comfort and dress badly. 10 percent are dandies who think about what to wear every day.

So it's an uglier world for all of us because the male uniform went away

I absolutely guarantee you, you don’t. I served, and when you encounter other countries militaries that have it as a requirement, you find how many of them don’t give a shit. The US way isn’t perfect, but it’s also why we’re one of the best.

The west is so particularly unproductive that even STEM requires the brains of the periphery to produce a majority of their patents. The only thing the west can do is finance and supply other productive enterprises and brain drain the imperialized nations.

Artisanal mines and plantations are things we still rely on heavily in order to make the large magnitude of batteries electronics luxury goods we use… even patents and intellectual works are mostly supplied by third world

@1KawIguy @JANAC2020 I say this for humanities and softer sciences. STEM and other fairly pragmatic fields are important, to some degree, but that important stuff doesn’t happen so often within the universities as much as it does in the field. For the most part we are all doing bullshit work.

@1KawIguy @JANAC2020 Education is important, but American universities are basically daycare for young adults and very rarely provide anything beyond networks for class mobility, but even that is starting to fall through as universities buckle under the weight and pressure of the coming austerity.
