@WallStreetMav That's a Chinese tuna pen floating near Tijuana. They're feeding the live tuna inside the pen. After enough tuna are caught, they tow the pen back to China. It's horrible for San Diego sportfishing, but Mexico allows it.
@ICT_pixel@SecScottBessent The train routes are capable of moving about 428,000 barrels a year, or one quarter of a supertanker. Not really a viable option.
@RoofKorean7 I remember meeting a bunch of your guys near Avalon and Manchester. I was deployed with the CAARNG 40th ID to the riots and we also slept on the roofs of the various government buildings we were protecting. It still boggles my mind why rioters burned their own neighborhoods. SMH.
@MarioNawfal At 3 million tons a year capacity approximately 428,000 barrels could be transported in 2026. One super tanker holds 2 million barrels, so this is really just a trickle.
They are quietly pioneering a return to feudalism in the background.
Capitalism cannot exist in the world they are building, especially one predicated solely on rent.
The owners of AI models/infrastructure will be the feudal lords of old.
They will bequeath computing power to lesser lords.
Those who have nothing of value to offer the AI-powered economy will be rendered superfluous.
Our existence will be predicated on subsistence -- just as the peasants of the past.
In the short-term, there is a policy question about how we will subsist sans earning an income.
Will we receive UBI? Will UBI be a cash payment or will it be a programmable CBDC or a compute credit?
More importantly: who pays?
The question in the long-term is the more important question we should all be asking though. What happens when providing for our subsistence becomes unnecessary?
What happens when you have an inferior species of homo sapiens who, lacking the skills to feed, cloth, and shelter themselves, are wholly dependent on an upper class of techno elites and superintelligence?
At what point will they stop providing for our subsistence?
