@SimonHarrisTD receiving a round of applause @griffithcollege following the announcement of new pathways that address “national obsession” with CAO points
@griffithcollege privileged to be joining you today for your 50th birthday celebrations. Welcome to @AdvanceHE membership and thank you so much for inviting us today
A few thoughts from me on what progress HE has made on university governance over the last few years and beyond. There’s a lot of good work underway, but no room for complacency
Had the privilege of speaking at the @HEFCW@AdvanceHE student partnership in governance event today. Great to meet some of the Chairs, Secretaries, SU CEOs and student governors from the Welsh HE sector
Sad but true point from @sophpender of 93% Club that students are "having to conduct a cost benefit analysis" between going to a lecture or taking a shift at a part time job. #hepiconf23
Perhaps unsurprisingly Cost of Living has become the primary concern of poor value for money, overtaking tuition fees. Students having much more immediate concerns than logee term view of accrued debt/paying back loans. @AdvanceHE#hepiconf23
The biggest finding for me in this year's SAES from @AdvanceHE and @HEPI_news is that 55% of full-time students in part time employment. 10% swing from last year. Have to understand who this is and if this creates inequitable experience #hepiconf23
Digging into the detail of the @HEPI_news + @AdvanceHE 2023 student academic experience survey with Jonathan Neves. Significant uptick this year in students working while they study as well as students with caring responsibilities. #HEPIconf23
HEPI's Rose Stephenson discusses the second part of the Student Academic Experience Survey. Fewer students can cover costs using government maintenance loans and more are depending on paid employment #HEPIConf23@AdvanceHE
Our 2023 Student Academic Experience Survey published with @HEPI_news shows that students are working harder but the cost of living crisis is overshadowing perceptions of their academic experience https://t.co/pyn5YLrxFw #HigherEd
Jonathan Neves from @AdvanceHE setting out the results of the Student Academic Experience Survey, showing student workload is the highest on record #HEPIConf23
Great to hear @MattWestern_ talk about his interest in the new Welsh Commission for Tertiary Education and Research at #HEPIConf23
Worth looking too at Scottish reforms to create a single tertiary quality framework, that @QAAtweets has recently been commissioned to undertake🙏🏻
