When Tallinn burned – Estonia commemorates the March 1944 bombings. On 09.03.1944, the Soviet Air Forces started to bomb the Estonian capital, Tallinn; some 600-700 civilians died, over 600 were wounded and some 20,000 people were left homeless.

Today 81 years ago, Russia bombed Tallinn, Estonia. The first attack saw 300 aircraft drop 3068 bombs, 1725 explosive and 1300 incendiary. Ca 800 killed, of whom ca 600 civilians. More than 20,000 people were left without a shelter, while the military objects were almost untouched.
