A great days birding at scoughall for 95 species. 4 patch year ticks, with 2 adult summer (moulting) black throated divers the highlight and a distant red necked grebe in with the scoter a close second (can you see it? Also scaup, jack snipe, Merlin, arctic tern and barnies
Whilst scanning treetops for warblers such as chiff and yellow browed at scoughall today, this moth with red underwing was fluttering around, then clamped itself to the branch. It looks very like Red Underwing, not many Scottish records! Could you check. @kattyponder
No migrants at scoughall today but these pintail contributed to a record site count. This recent marsh harrier is wearing a Darvic but of unknown origin. A true (im)migrant was this Dark Swordgrass, a first for me and the garden
A great day at scoughall today for 79 species. This lang-leggety caspian gull was the highlight as well as marsh harrier yellow wags, wood sand, spot fly and more than 300 teal north. A large shear on the horizon was too far……

We won't forget.
