I’ve never had a great manager.
I’ve had great:
- listeners
- mentors
- coaches
- business advisors
- advocates
- promoters
- strategy partners
- leaders
Some of these people were called “managers”, but the best of them never made me feel “managed.”
I just screamed at the top of my lungs for 30 seconds because @DoorDash brought me a bag of fucking curly fries instead of the actual meal I ordered, then sent me to customer support hell because I didn’t report their abject failure correctly.
Stay fun, y’all.
My favorite moments after watching “Barbie” were asking women about it and hearing so many different perspectives. I wasn’t prepared for how much there was to say about it.
A coworker told me she took her teenage son to see “Barbie”. He asked ‘Mom, do you really feel all those things?’ She said yes, and I gained a little hope for the world.
I watched The Flash last night. I thought about the time my dad told me he was his favorite super hero. I hated 90% of it, but at the end, in the moment when Barry decides to forsake his own happiness for the good of the rest of the universe, I thought of my father.
Please stop putting art against each other. It’s a dumb trend.
What if we watched these things on their own? What if we appreciated them for what they bring to society on their own? We can compare them later.
Give art its own space. Competition is fun, but entirely unnecessary
There's a whole constellation of data that points to the idea that men, and white men in particular, are losing ambition — "drifting."
But what if men have never really been ambitious?

“In the future, how will we know how to be who the algorithm doesn’t show us we can be? Would we even dare to want to? And what would that kind of totalizing assimilation mean for global mental health, wellbeing, and the human experience in general?”
I have been waiting for a reason to write about the American smile for decades. And AI finally gave it to me.
