On this day 5 years ago, dozens of people were massacred by Uganda’s military in Kampala and neighboring towns, and to-date justice has never been served to the bereaved families.

18th and 19th November 2020 left scars on our land, the kind similar to many other injustices that have over the years been occasioned on Ugandans. One thing is for sure, justice will one day be served!

On Friday last week, the High Court in Kampala ruled in favor of Hajara Nakitto, whose son, Ssegawa Amos was murdered in cold blood by regime operatives during the November 2020 protests. Amos was only 15 years of age at the time of his extrajudicial killing. Regime operatives went on rampage, killing over 150 innocent citizens.

Shamelessly, Museveni came out and praised his 'commandos' for a job well done! He would later claim that more than half of those who died were killed by stray bullets and promised that they would receive 'compensation'. Unsurprisingly, it turned out to be another lie and false promise! To date, there has been nothing - except attempts to silence a few of the victims who were vocal.

I want to salute Hajara for her relentless fight for justice for her son. Although the 50 million shillings awarded to her is too small compared to the life lost and the expectations she had in her son, at least it has gone on record that the Museveni regime illegally murdered her son. Of course it's not even clear if the money will ever be paid to her.

On our part, we shall continue to use all avenues to push for justice and accountability for these crimes against humanity! May the soul of Amos and all other victims of the Museveni brutality continue resting in peace.

Olivia Lutaaya ,is a 31 year old mother of 2 kids who is in prison for close to 3 years now without trial . Please read out this 👇🏿

Jeremiah, one of her kids, is pictured here. He is 7 years old and has not seen his mother in nearly three years.

When I and @AAgather visited Olivia's family earlier this week ,the Aunt who is staying with the kid (Jeremiah) told us a really harrowing tale that she will soon be sharing with you.

When we went to see the family, Jeremiah was already in critical condition. I'm happy to inform you that he is making a full recovery from his illness.

Olivia Lutaaya's aunt's situation is similar to that of many other parents whose children have been behind bars for a significant amount of time. No other parent wants to see his or her kids struggle without parental affection.

Nyeko Derrick, the area MP for Olivia Lutaaya, who she personally campaigned for, has since turned a blind eye.

In a conversation we had on Twitter, NYEKO DERRICK blatantly misled the public by claiming to be Olivia Lutaaya's family's caretaker. Please allow us understand how you have been supporting Olivia's family. I know its not your role.

NYEKO DERRICK blocked me when I tried to ask him about, at the very least, what he has ever stated at the floor of parliament in regards to political prisoners, notably Olivia Lutaaya, and what he has ever done for the family.

I am confident that NYEKO DERRICK can hear all of the public's pleas from wherever he is right now. Although our constitutional mandate requires it, we are not battling you but rather, we are holding you responsible.

We, the common people, will continue to demand for your freedom using all legal channels accessible to us, dear Olivia Lutaaya. We won't give up until you and the other political prisoners are released.

We are grateful to our people for their persistent calls for Olivia's release, and we implore more of you to join the cause .A unified voice is unstoppable!!
