@_niniverse__@wibbthegoat In Old French, the "s" in "masle" was pronounced, and the final "e" in both "masle" and "femelle" was pronounced too, so these words were not pronounced the same back then like they are in Modern French. English borrowed "masle" after Old French did eventually drop the S though.
@mightymarkdean@SerebiiNet Pokopia didn't even release the base game on the cart, so mainline or not (and of course, this game is uncontroversial not mainline), it couldn't get its DLC on the cart. You need to compare to games that actually have the game on the cart, and none of those games have expansions
@sanson_ganbaru@6b01l Changing the status quo is always a source of frication that can prevent change even if the change's outcome is good (in this case, it is not 100% clear if it is good). It is also the biggest reason why English doesn't have a spelling reform to fix the terrible orthography.
@6b01l@sanson_ganbaru Using kanji is more information-dense, so if you move your eyes over the words, you can mentally process the text's meaning faster. Compare 志 to こころざし. That is one benefit of kanji. I don't deny there are benefits. I was just saying the homonym argument is weak.
@sanson_ganbaru@6b01l For some reason, Japanese use any symbol to mark "pitch accent" (高低アクセント). But you could make one, just like how some European languages have diacritical marks that mark word stress or pitch accent. If you used such a mark, you could put it over the は or the し.
@sanson_ganbaru@6b01l I understand there are benefits to using kanji. I am just saying that the "there are many homonyms, so we need kanji" is a weak argument.
@sanson_ganbaru@6b01l But you already deal with that when you speak verbally. If you can understand spoken Japanese with all the homonyms, it should not be a problem to understand a version of written Japanese that doesn't distinguish homonyms by kanji.
@mightymarkdean@SerebiiNet Mainline or not, your reasoning doesn't make any sense. The only games that have DLC expansions before this game were SwSh and SV. None of the other games, mainline or not, got expansions, so of course they couldn't get a cartridge that bundles the game with an expansion.
@xddxd60394544@N8E01778234@Genki_JPN The game being able to fit on the cart doesn't matter to Atlus. They will make it a game key card just to save money. Raidou Remastered was only 12.1 GB (or perhaps a little more) and that was still made into a GKC (Just like Square Enix did with Bravely Default and others).
@RLRaymond1@mainmandreeee@Wario64 Ever since the PS4/XboxOne, games do not ever run off the disc. The game is installed onto the internal storage from the disc and then when you play the game, it runs off the internal storage, with the disc used as a key. Only the Switch/Switch 2 still runs off the physical cart.
@GenterMarko@KMO_X9@compactform If you want to headcanon that they might develop feelings later in life and get together, that's fine, but in the timeframe of the game itself, there is no party member pairing that is more actively "deconfirmed" to be a thing.
@GenterMarko@KMO_X9@compactform The game goes out of its way to NOT push Ann with Ryuji. There are multiple scenes where they show a lack of interest (Ryuji trying to ditch before the fireworks; Ryuji being nonplussed by Ann during Lovers Rank 8 @ the gym and even asking about Mika instead, etc).
@cnationmaverick@Yugiman101 In the anime, Yuuya and Yuzu (Zuzu in Eng dub) are childhood friends and mutual love interests.
In the manga, Yuuya instead comes from the future, and it turns out Yuuya is Yuzu's future child, who she will have with Yuusho (who was also Yuuya's dad in the anime).
@nyomaho10911329 Everything I said is an entirely separate matter from the question of legality. Of course, regardless of someone's view on the concept of stealing, they can still agree with you that the law should not be broken. Something being illegal can be enough reason to refrain from acting
@nyomaho10911329 Of course, there are Westerners that share this view too. Since they have this view, they also view piracy is immoral. But even for them, they will see a distinction between "stealing that results in deprivation" and "taking without deprivation". They just see both as bad.
