Next is Martin Collier from Residents for a Safe Speedvale Avenue. His beef is the Emma-Earl bridge and how if the budget for that were cancelled then the money could be used for other projects.

Destruction of the Speed River's natural heritage began today to make way for the $7 million Emma-Earl Bridge to Nowhere. The secretive @cityofguelph gave no warning of the destruction dates via flyers, press release or on its website. Yet another "#FAIL" in this ongoing fiasco.

Vulnerable road users in #Guelph have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to actually enjoy Speedvale (between Speed River & Stevenson). Since motorists can't speed through the Woolwich intersection (currently under construction for $5,000,000), the feeling of safety & peace is awesome!

2/2 - As in Jan 2021, we gave staff a month to contact us or issue a press release but only silence -- and the most recent post on the city's website is dated Aug 18/22. Still, there's time to save $3,000,000 and Speed River habitat by installing a Safe X-Walk Zone on Speedvale!
2023 feels like 2021 where the Emma-Earl Bridge EA is concerned. On Dec 5/22, the #ON gov't issued a response to RSSA's 12-page bump-up request of Sep 16. It stated that our request “will take a longer period to review and for a decision to be made.” @cityofguelph was cc'd. 1/2
