Today we remember Blessed Ralph Corby, born in Ireland, who worked as a priest around Durham before being arrested and executed in 1644 with Blessed John Duckett, born and educated in Sedbergh who also worked in the area.

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Edmund Arrowsmith who born in Haydock in 1585, was ordained at Douai and began his work in Lancashire, in the north of our Diocese. He was arrested in 1628, imprisoned and martyred at Lancaster. His hand is preserved in Ashton in Makerfield.

Today marks the beginning of the Season of Creation, established by Patriarch Bartholemew and Pope Francis. Let us care for creation as God's gift.
