@boscofoley@VirginMediaNews I'm not sure. It's frustrating that she can't.
Not sure why your query is regarding Catherine Connolly though. If you look back on my tweet again, you'll see it was exclusively focusing on and commenting on Colette Fitzpatrick's interviewing technique.
This interview is a bad look for @VirginMediaNews. It’s like the brief to Colette Fitzpatrick was three words long - ‘Take her down.’ Nothing about policy or looking forward. 30 minutes discussing accusations. Dreadful stuff. #TheBigInterview
@margotkenny@VirginMediaNews To gloss over her decisions in the past would be naive. That's not what I said. I just thought maybe some of the interview could've been more general.
@Justinhead1982@VirginMediaNews Quite the opposite in fact. If you read my tweet again you'll see it was exclusively focusing on Colette Fitzpatrick and how she was interviewing - nothing to do with Catherine Connolly.
Tip - don't assume 😉
@treacy_phil@VirginMediaNews I would think spending almost the entire interview going through accusations and little to nothing spent on general questions is trying to take her down. You're right though - 30 minutes dodging questions does say it all.
My tweet was exclusively about interviewing... not CC!
@micrabam@VirginMediaNews Correct - voters are entitled to know the details. And Colette Fitzpatrick was right to ask them. But to spend the entire interview just going through accusations was poor journalism IMO. Could've had one or two more general questions.
@PlayerMUFC@VirginMediaNews Couldn't agree more! Which is why I think the questions needed to be asked. But maybe 50%/60% of questions could've been a grilling. Could've been one or two more general questions there also.
@gracemarylaura@VirginMediaNews I agree - it is important. And I agree that she deflects. But at least have something general like 'Why should you be president?' .
@HughGillanders@VirginMediaNews Agreed - she doesn't answer questions. But at least ask something like 'Why should the people of Ireland vote for you?'
@Dubliner112@Talktimefor2021@VirginMediaNews Yes, you could look at it that way. But it's looking backwards rather than forwards. Just think the interview could've done with a question like 'Why should the people of Ireland vote for you?' or 'Why should you be president?' Don't remember questions like that being asked.
@Talktimefor2021@VirginMediaNews I agree - Catherine Connolly doesn’t answer questions straight & continually deflects. It’s extremely frustrating. Doesn’t mean the interviewee should spend the entire 30 mins going over accusations though. She could’ve given at least some time to policies etc. #thebiginterview
@NornEye@VirginMediaNews@catherinegalway She did ok, but the focal point of the interview became the interviewee (Colette Fitzpatrick) and how bad she conducted the interview.
@ClippyXmark@BernieRoche9@VirginMediaNews I disagree. I would’ve liked to have seen some balance. Maybe 50% grilling, 50% looking into the future. That interview was just a one-person witch hunt. Worst thing I’ve seen on TV in years.
