If you don’t believe there’s prejudice in Ireland against the Irish language and Irish speakers consider that people working in the national media have…
The revival of the Irish language across Ireland is something we should all be proud of.
That is why it is so disappointing to hear the Minister for Education say there will be no new Gaelscoileanna or Gaelcholaistí until at least 2032. At a time when demand for Irish-medium education is growing, this is a missed opportunity.
Tá sé de cheart ag gach páiste a oideachas a fháil trí mheán na Gaeilge. Every child should have the right to be educated through our first national language. The demand is there, we need more Gaelscoileanna and Gaelcholaistí now. Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam 🇮🇪
@kingkane Everyone who wants their children to attend an English medium school can do so, not everyone who wants their children to attend an Irish medium school can do so and the government are doing nothing about it.
The Soc Dems have said a decision not to open any new Gaelscoileanna until 2032 will put the Government's own Irish language targets at risk.

@SociologenHD@Aidan_Regan Personally I find it hard to believe you oppose antisemitism (racism against Jewish people) on moral grounds if you criticise efforts to end the horrific racism Palestinians are subjected to.
@danielthemate Did you complain about the massive coverage RTÉ & others gave Oct 7th? Did you compare it with the amount of coverage they gave Sudan? If they gave Oct 7th disproportionate coverage would you argue that proves anti-Palestinian bias?
@joehas@SineadOS1@PBresnihan Another deeply ingrained ideology that might be at play is the belief that we have to depend on FDI to create jobs because we can't do it ourselves. A sort of economic inferiority complex?
@billmaher Does that mean protestors against apartheid in South Africa were just anti-white racists unless they were protesting as much about every human rights-abusing regime in the world in the 80s - do you see how absurd you sound?
Yesterday we brought a motion to the Assembly endorsing a new Ireland back in Europe over a future led by Farage.
It was defeated by just one vote, with 16 MLAs abstaining.
Change is not inevitable and will take time and care, but we are clear about the future we want to build.
@MatthewOToole2@SDLPlive@ClaireHanna@columeastwood Any chance this motion was inspired by this tweet?😅. While it didn't pass it showed Alliance will abstain on a United Ireland vote 👏 https://t.co/xC93vwuDEd
@MatthewOToole2@SDLPlive The best way to persuade a SOS to call a border poll is for the NI Assembly to vote for one (and for a United Ireland while you're at it). This could happen next year if pro-UI parties get more seats than pro-UK parties, assuming Alliance and the Greens abstain.
@piersmorgan You complained on QT about young people not being able to afford a house yet here you are losing your mind about the only politician who will do something about it 🤷♂️
@RobbieButlerMLA Of course England is pro-union, they are the only part of the UK that rules itself fully, plus they get to control Scotland, Wales and part of Ireland, what's not to like for them 😅
