@MaeveKelly11 True “goodness and decency of people in the world” would have been to help preserve the family or origin to keep the children with each other and the family intact. Instead we see the typical “saviorism” while they celebrate the loss these children are experiencing!
Dear Adoption Indu$try~
The term “placement day” is a blatant euphemism for “gotcha day” and just as offensive. Displacement Day would be more accurate. Sell that.

So proud to have participated in this project with an amazing group of Adoptees. We are speaking our truth & raising awareness. Please visit our website https://t.co/GyRtHKmrMA to learn more. @MaeveKelly11 you’re in my chapter 💙
@ottoman42 I think the vast majority of people have never thought about adoption & certainly never from the lens of an adult adoptee. It’s a “beautiful” savior story or a joke. Adoptees are less-than, throw aways. A little weird. When “tracking down” their “birth” families, pathological.
It was 30 years for me without any genetic connection to the world. It took me having my own child to be in the same room with someone who shares my DNA. This is not normal. This is not okay. The effects of living like this are harmful & long-lasting.
The “birth” qualifier is really starting to get to me. I understand “birth mother.” But “birth father?” “Birth family?” I guess it’s about minimizing who these folks are to make #adoption more palatable. They’re all only “birth” family, right? So you lost nothing.
Marta Isabella Sierra, LMHC, is back again! We are still talking about estrangement and today looking at the question - is loyalty a trauma response? Marta teaches us about “fawning” and that many of us will choose to be loyal to others before https://t.co/nTTk4HcMTv
Randall on This is Us:
The day I was adopted I lost my own birth mother and birth father.
I have been told how grateful I should be my whole life.
And if for a second I don't act that way people come at me crazy.
Unpopular opinion:
All human beings have a fundamental right to not only *know* their origins but to maintain their identity. No one should have the unfettered discretion to permanently sever another from their family of origin. Providing care does not require erasing identity.
@haleyradke@haleyradke Adoptees On and your commitment is what brought me way out of the fog and began my healing journey. The Adoptee community I have become connected to (because of you) has become a source of strength, support and unity. Thank you for all that you have done for us 🌎🦋💙
